Apparently, there should be an option in Acer's window$ configuration software (eSettings?) under "Boot Options" for "Fan always on". That's what i've heard, and I'm curious to know whether it works. (Un)fortunately, I don't use window$, and I'm not sure how to control this option (or even if it's possible) in linux. /proc/acpi/fan is empty. The DSDT does mention "VFAN", so it could just be a faulty/incomplete dsdt.
The option "Fan always on" does indeed exist, result when you click it : Fan immediately spins up to full speed. Not an improvement, take it from me...
