Memory compatability

if a computer comes with Pc3200 DDR2... can i put in a stick of 1gig pc4200 ddr2? and will they be compatible... i dont care if its running dual channel or even at 400mhz... as long as it works.... any replies are appreciated..

if the computer accepts 1gig sticks, or a maximum of 1gig then you should be fine. pc4200 will just lower down to pc3200 if thats what your system runs out. Your fine going higher in pc stuff, just not lower.

Although if you are throwing in a gig stick of pc4200, why not just take out the slower stuff? 1gig is plenty anyways
