Ratmyr's Aviator CX7 Review - Page 3

Shoot using

Sun light instead of flash, or put paper towel/tissue in front of flash to defuse it. I know for the last 7 months have been trying to get my Cambridge Green in the correct light so people can see how that color "shifts". Now that its nice out I can move it outside.

Once the rain goes away, I plan on taking it outside and see if I can get some good shots. I did notice that some of the pics had a little of the purple coming out - but I want to see if I can get more to show up.

And…. I found my buffing cloth that I had with my EX7. So time to break out the turtle wax and do some detailing of it… ok, maybe that is too much attention.

The problem is... even in the nice atmosphere of the beach, I was still getting the blue tint... man. No luck at all.

when i see pictures like the one beavis posted it truly makes me wonder weather some people actually look at themselves in the mirror before exiting there house.

The problem is when they do look at themselves and see nothing wrong. I bet in the case in a lot of these, that is the truth.

For example - I may try to relive my past by wearing some of the accessories I wore when hitting the beaches while growing up (seriously - unrelated to DBs pic) and I may be wearing them because I still think its cool. However - those days are gone. I am not the same person as I was then, trends have changed, etc. But in my mind - I may think I look just as cool as I did then.

All about preception and how they preceive themselves.

But you are right... the fashion models should have stopped them at the door.

Update - the system has been running very well. In fact, I built a desktop downstairs in my office for some serious gaming, and I find that the majority of the time, I am still on the CX7 playing because I can hang with the kids while gaming. This past weekend, I was informed in game (by Guild Wars) - "You have been playing for 6 hours. Take a break." I thought that was cool. I have normally seen the 1 and 2 hour prompts - but hadn't seen that one.

That being said - everyone reading my posts know that I enjoy this system - except for the sound. I need to know if there is a problem or if it is due to my hearing loss. The other sytems I owned (the EX7 and GX7) had speakers in the front and the CX7 have them on top (keyboard area) towards the back. So it could be due to that as well. But I just haven't been satisfied with the sound. So I have requested tech support to check it out and see if there is a problem or not.

So…. the system is on its way to Hypersonic HQ. I am definitely going to have to hang out in my home office now to spend time with the desktop - because there is a void next to my easy chair in the family room.

UPS better not lose it. I have already blacklisted the USPS for computer shipping.

Ok. Got the system back and been happy with it. They did find some issues with my sound, and that got fixed. However, a lot of my concerns are still there. I am chalking these up to two factors - the bilateral hearing loss I have and that the speakers are to the back and facing up - as opposed to in front and facing me.

So I am going to look for a small set of good speakers. I don't have a lot of space on my desktop where I am using the notebook (notebook table next to my lounging chair in the family room). Once I get this - I am going to see if it resolves the problem.

Should be no problem since I have no issues with the headphones.

So nice to have the system back again. And with all the talk about graphic upgrades - I am going to have to find a way to get one. Hmmm. The kids may not ahve to have school clothes for the new year - do they?

Just providing an update. Thanks.

need infos on if we can upgrade to the 7900 512 on single cores. Pat wanna chime in and let us know please? or do i gotta call HS and find out? As for the sound rat, i have the same issues cept im not losing my hearing. So im pretty sure thats the standards for the cx7 sound.

i'm really very curious bout the vid upgrades avail or becoming avil in the future though. I've run the Vista tests on the cx7 and its fully compatible with the highest end version of Vista YAY!!!. But i wanna make sure a dx10 card will work or not. I'm hopin i dont have to chuck out another $3k within the next year.

At this point the 7900 512MB card is not compatible with the Aviator CX7. It is only for the CX7 Duo.

I guess I am just focusing on processor upgrades then.

Pat says you can't get the 512m 7900 video card on this? The website lets you select it. Or are you talking about something else? Also, has anyone heard of killernotebooks.com? Good pricing but I've only seen mention of them on one other forumn, would like to give the small guy business but don't want to get burned either. He says he sell's the T7400 Core 2 Duo aleady too? Is that possible?

THis option is available on the CX7 Duo. Not the single core (previous CX7), which is available as a Turbo (prebuilt) system.
grrrr kinda blows really that i'd have to buy a whole new system to simply upgrade video now? Seriously i thought these machines were supposed to be upgradeablea dn i also remember seeing someone saying when they are available vid upgrades were possible. Is it the 512mb thats the trouble or is the 7800 gtx the only card for the older systems? Kinda sucks seeing thata machine around 6 months old becomes obsolete to upgrades already.
I am not sure but you might be able to work a deal with Hypersonic to ship your current system back to them and have them upgrade. The problem is the motherboard. Hypersonic would have to replace that and unless the single core and daul core proc are the same socket type (highly doubtfull) they would have to upgrade the processor as well. But they might be willing to work on a suitable price that would be less than purchasing new.

Or, option 2, you could order the new lappy, then sell the old one on e-bay and recover 1/3 to 1/2 or more of your cost.

This is typical of the PC world nowadays, buy something now, and 6-12 months down the road, you cann't do much without replacing a major component.
well the trouble i have with that is when i spoke to the salesperson b4 buying it they said the machines are upgradeable. Which this is obviously a gimmick to get people to buy without proper knowledge. I only went with the cx7 because they said it was upgradeable and when a card is available it would work. I understand a 7900 512 might not work, ok fine, but be damn sure you people have something available as an upgrade for next gen within the next few months. Not everyone has 3k to dish out. And when you advertise something is upgradeable, make damn well sure it is b4 costing a consumer their hard earned cash.

Hey Pat what cards are available for the older cx7's? find it hard to beleive you custom make the motherboards to fit jsut one type of video card. Is there going to be a dx10 card available for the single core machines?

Hypersonic doesn't custom make the motherboards - cards or any of the equipment. They sell the systems that Clevo develops - and in 100% of the cases, are at the mercy to how Clevo designs these systems.

The CX7's may be upgradeable, however, the video card companies have decided to change specs, power requirements or space requirements. Any of these could be a factor to prevent it from being able to fit in the chasis. And... if Clevo suddenly decides that the older models of CX7's are no longer important enough to warrant their attention - there isn't a lot Hypersonic can do.

I definitely know the frustration - as I am interested in the upgrade as well (to include a dual core upgrade). But processor wise - there is definitely a different motherboard requirement - which equals a lot of money. The video card upgrade may warrant even a different case to house the card - not sure.

Identifying what we can upgrade is definitely a plus - but lets also remember that Hypersonic is not the developer of the hardware and at mercy of the industry.
