you gotta ask dell for the windows cd and the drivers cd's.

You're supposed to get your MCE "recovery" disk from Symantec, which isn't an actually install disk. Additionally, you're supposed to get the driver(s) disk. I don't know why your computer didn't come with it, but you can either download all of your drivers online or call dell and tell them you didn't get a driver CDs.

You have to pay $10 extra if you would like to have a MCE backup disk - which is worth it. Although I know someone has posted a way to get around the $10 fee, but I'd rather just pay it and be honest.

"Honest"? You mean sucker, don't you? If you forked over a tenner, then you paid Dell for your OEM disc twice.

My laptop came with ZERO disks, ZERO manuals. In fact it came with just laptop, brick,...... actually, that's it, laptop and brick. Just emailed them a couple hours ago saying I need the disks because my restore partion was 'corrupted'. It was a "mad" email so let's see if I get it for free or what not. You could also probably say you upgraded to a larger hard drive that you paid $300+ through dell and there was no "hidden partition" that came with it and you don't think you should have to pay another insulting $10 for some CD's to make your computer back to its original and or OEM configuration.

I received all the cds with mine. My xp mce disk was the full version oem OS cd. Not a restore type of cd. And, no, it was not provided by Symantec . Why would an antivirus company provide an xp cd?

boo yah...
i just called them up...
the tech guy was cracking up when I told him Dell doesn't send the xp cd...
He sent it to me free and everything...

You just have to talk to the right people on dell support

Symantec makes Norton Ghost, a well known imaging (system backup/restore) program.

Many PC makers include Ghost system restore discs with their new PCs in lieu on actual OS install disc.

I'm sure when you buy a computer you are also purchasing a genuine copy of Windows. The least Dell should do is provide you a copy of the geniune Windows CD in case of problems with your computer that require you to reformat, etc. You already purchased your copy of Windows with the computer.

I think something is wrong with the search cause everybody has been saying there is something wrong with it, like its blank or something.
