Downgrade to A04?

Thread Starter
I recently got a I9300 and it came with the new bios A05...and I've been hearing stuff about how the A04 runs cooler and stuff like that. Is there any truth in that and how does that work? I've looked everwhere (everywhere but the correct place) for the old A04 bios and I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have a copy of the old bios so I can downgrade the bios (is it even possible?

Just look under support driver downloads and click older versions.. I downgraded my XPS Gen2 to A04 a few days ago.. froze up twice, but I think it's okay now... I run much cooler.

I also received mine right behind you Syan. But altho this topic peeks my interest I'd like to hear more confirmation of that before doing such a thing. I like avoiding BIOS conflicts. Besides... I couldn't feel any heat (or barely feel the weight) on my lap last night. And I was thinking that if I was going to play with the BIOS that I would just convert to the XPS BIOS so I could run the 7800 in the future.

Hi. I got my 9300 back in September; it came with A04. Cooling was fine. After uninstalling a bunch of the Dell software, the fans were started coming on most of the time, either because they were unable to control themselves, or it started running hotter. Anyway, the Dell techs (via chat) told me to update the BIOS to A05. I was skeptical, but went ahead. Updating to A05 worked like a charm. The notebook runs cool as ever. I don't think there's a problem with this and A05. I say don't downgrade. FWIW.

I did it last week for heat & battery life.
got some reduction in the cpu/gpu temps and very slight increase in battery life [guesstimating 5%]
No problems with the flash or after ......... done from my HD w/reboot.
