Yea what phase is Doom 3 in GF? That thing has taken it's sweet ole time hasn't it? I've played the demo, it's sweet and all, scares the heck out of me, but yea that isn't exactly speeding along is it? what about Half Life 2? I know the whole wrap about the source code leaking into the public, but they didn't even have multi player when they "planned" on releasing it a few months ago. I don't know, i just want my laptop so i can play some sweet games on it that's all.
As for what you guys are discussing, yes AW can tell you bull***t at times, but that's what they are trained to do, they are trained to look at the system, and make an "educated" guess as to how long the system has more to take. But when they make that guess, they pad it a bit i'm sure so that you don't get irate with them at that point, you'll just call back at a later time. I won't lie, I am one of the customers who calls consitently to see whats the hold up. I did pay top dollar for a product so i want to know what the deal is. I agree with you all basically. I try to play it off like i am patient, while in fact i am patient, but i do call and see whats up.
One piece of advice, when you call, don't explode at them, in all honesty what i did was to talk to their supervisor, and you can rationalize with them, they will shoot you straight up. Just tell them, "please just be honest with me, that's all i want. What is holding the system up, how much longer will it be. Give me an honest time frame." At first he'll try to give you the usual answer, but then you have to reassure him that you want an honest answer, then he'll say something like in all honesty, not for "X" amount of days or weeks.
This company is busier than heck. Yes their supply chain guy should be receiving alot of heat for the delays because if your a company with this much popularity, you should be pumping these things out like crazy. I know it would cost more money to hire more help, but the amount of systems that are cancelled due to long waiting times i'm sure are just detrimental to their sales. So basically, what i'm saying is be patient, polite, and give them hell in a very nice way and you'll get your way!
