I would guess probably not. Thing gets hot enough with only one GPU.

So my questions is where do you propose to put the second video card?

Although the space is limited, gigabyte has a single card sli solution (for teh desktop). So it may be possible for the notebook form. However the power requirements would no doubt be greater, necessitating a new motherboard. Well at least that's my speculation.

This sounds like an excellent idea, clevo should make a d950w or whatever with an option for a second video module instead of a battery

One powerful, but not power-hungry video card > SLI
post #13 of 15
Yeah, I really see SLI as the video card market's temporary solution to making top end systems even better. The overall performance of SLI systems is not twice that of single card systems. Something tells me that five years from now we'll all be laughing at the absurdity of having two graphics cards in one computer. Then again, I could be wrong and we could have SLI 6.0 by then with 6 running GF9600 GTX's...

I believe that SLI will die out too just like in the voodoo days, its just a stopgap for newer cards

And if you want mobile SLI, I think Shuttle is working on one

Just attach a 24"wide screen and a keyboard to a tower laying on its side and carry around a deepcycle marine battery, and BAM . . . you have the most powerful, largest and heaviest laptop on the market, it also functions as a weight set to keep you in shape for those long LAN Party nights!
