Funny but not for the reason you think.

If you want to complain about horrible customer support, deal with Best Buy's and Hp's customer support. These two C/S departments are the worst I ever had to deal when I owned my Pavilion Zt1195.
At first it made me a little paranoid Sonic about the beware of Alienware site. Know I made a firm decision. I'm gonna get this notebook and there is no whay in **** that my Area 51m2 could have as many problems as my old notebook did. If you want to deal with horrible C/S departments deal with the two I dealt with, They read off scripts and probably weren't certified techs.

yea....I'm going to wait a little bit before ordering since the fx51 just came out a few months ago.....I heard it would only overclock to 2.34ghz....I guess ill wait and see where this 64bit processor goes in the next month or so...and if I get impatient ill just order the voodoo. I just hope their not the same as alienware

to get an end to this i´d say either ban sonic, or ban all of the other people active in the alienware forum.
i vote for banning sonic.
Why ban him?... just because he has different views and opinions than you. I should think under a democracy he has as much right to say AW messed his order up as you have of saying AW is the best thing since sliced bread.

In fact the balance between the two views is in my opinion what gives the forum Substance, if the forum was just full of one view (AW FANatics or AW Bashers) People reading the threads trying to learn about AW and the products they sell would soon see through the hype and loose interest and look for somewhere where there was a balanced view.

By all means bash each other’s Opinions with facts and figures but lets keep the blows above the belt and stop all this ban nonsense.

I hope all have a great Christmas and a merry new year

remember that it´s most often the unhappy customer that try to tell others about what happened to them, while the happy customer just dont cares about other people, and instead enjoy some really really good gaming.

You make a great point....

as said before: people here are more than welcome to talk about their bad experiences. but it becomes tiresome when they spam it all over the place.

Sonic, Welcome to the Alienware Forum of TalkNotebooks.Com
As you must have noticed, this forum is an excellent place for a Pro and Con debate. I appreciate that there hasn't been serious direct personal attacks in this thread. Negative opinion is left for all to see. Attempt to keep this debate organized within this thread and not spread all over the Forum. Ban and Deletion are extreme measures and require an extreme offense. Opinions within a heated debate (in an Open Forum) are welcome.

As a Business sells more and more, The Ratio of Good/Bad grows. There will always be a Good/Bad Ratio in any Business. No human is perfect. Yea, its a shame that these are Hand Built Systems, configured by the customer and built exclusively for the customer by a real person. With some of the most advanced components on the face of the Earth. There is HIGH expectation. If a system is recieved with even the most Minor issue a person has to wonder how that could have happened. The advertising is so hyped (and it needs to be, due to competition) A buyer expects FLAWLESS! no less. The realism of a Good/Bad Ratio does not allow for this. Your point is well taken Sonic. But welcome back to Earth.
and, again, Welcome to The Alienware Forum.

But Sonic didn't even get an AW he canceled so he has no experience with one.

Gotcha Mechanic. I think I meant the Ratio info to dispute the Anti-Alienware site.

as for Sonic...the experience is with ordering and an issue with Alienware "Phases". There is no way that Alienware can Custom Build EVERY system without having some kind of manufacturing process in place. The biggest complaint I have seen has been when someone Changes something on the original order and the Build Process starts over. Though that really sux...its an attempt to keep order in what must be a chaotic place. Changing the configuration is like thowing a very large wrench into the manufacturing dept.

So Sonic's intelligence is Limited at best when it comes to Alienware. Everyone should keep that in mind. There isnt much there to base opinion on.

man...when my computer comes, I'm examining shipping box, checking the case, monitor, etc. and opening the com to make sure all the right parts are there....

I got a lemon Sager 8880 and they were great about repairing it. I have now had it over 16 months and it is a pretty good computer. Of course it is getting long in the tooth and I'm thinking of going lighter and something with longer batter life next time, but all in all, as a Desktop Replacement, it is a nice machine.

Don't worry. THey will stand behind their machine.

when my computer was on phase 8, i added the alienadrenaline ONLY after asking what would happen to the phase. they said "it will take 2-3 business days to charge and go back to 8" so the next couple days, its on phase 2..and then it hits 3. so i was expecting phase 8 or 9 next. but it went to 4. so i called and they kept telling me "itll go to 9 soon call tomorroW". the next day "itll go to phase 9 soon...call tomorrow". again and again...they told me on thursday that my computer would ship b4 christmas. i called friday to make sure it went to phase 9 and this time i was told that since i added that software, it has to go through all the phases..and sure enough it was on phase 4. before that, i waited 2 1/2 weeks to get to phase 8. im not waiting another 2 1/2 weeks. i was then told the computer would ship like the 2nd or 3rd week of January.....WTFFFFFFF so thats when i canceled

i found my computer though....it won this years ultimate gaming machine from cgw... its the voodoo f-1 classic. and guess what....its 2000$ less than the alienware i was getting and since it can not be configured (only upgraded later), its in the box ready to ship.

even if i bought the system, added the 3 year warranty, creative gigaworks speakers, the sennheiser headphones, etc. it came out to 6200. 730$ less than the system i was originally buying. i just hope the service is better...

And you know this because you've ever purchased one from them?

Being from the UK I decided to have a little look at http://www.bewareofalienware.co.uk just to see if it made any credible arguments about the standard of the hardware and cases that AW use (as I assume the UK and US alienware use the same parts for the most part). Anyway after reading thie site from a totally subjective point of view (not owning an AW machine) I can only come to the conclusion that the site is not a credible review of Alienware experiences. Although there probably are some truely unfortunate experiences on that site one thing to take into account is the minimal amount of reviews actually posted to that site and also the fact that the 200 experiences found are between December 2003 and October 2000 a period of more than 3 years. Even if all those reviews were true (which I highly doubt) I'd still consider that a good record as eventually some of the true problems wouldve been solved or faulty machines replaced.

IMHO to anyone considering an Alienware machine dont let that site discourage you, it hasn't discouraged me.

MaDsK1LLz, The Voodoo F-1 or PC 51 whatever you want to call it, is a tower desktop. It "won" the CGW contest with being overclocked and unstable. The system should have been disqualified for being over the cost limit of the contest. Maby you should read the CGW artical and maby you would realize that the Alienware Aurora was the better system. The Alienware was Stable, not overclocked, cheaper, and the 3dMark 03 score was just under the liquid cooled, o/c'ed, unstable, overpriced Voodoo.

These complaints about Alienware Production times seem to have more to do with cold feet over an expensive purchase. A CUSTOM Built machine isn't something that is on a shelf in a warehouse and cannot be shipped over night. These are Custom Built for each and every person. even the "pre-configured" systems on the Alienware website are Custom Built for the specific customer that calls and orders them. Enjoy the Voodoo. I personally know a couple Voodoo owners and they are happy with what they bought. I bust on the expensive paint job everytime I see them. At least the f-1 you bought doesnt have that "real" Voodoo paint.
