My W3V has no cooling vents??

I noticed today that the underside has no slots for ventilation. On page 18 of my users manual it shows "Cooling Fan & Air Vents". I don't have these and I'm wondering if that is why my fan keeps speeding up and down and runs constantly.

Curious about your W3V.

Thanks

Yea none of them have it. The only vent on the laptop is under the keyboard and on the front side where the speakers are. If you want to fix the fan problem you could try nhc instead of the power4gear that came with it.

I think one of the resellers did an experiment and "made" vents on the bottom, and they didn't really affect temps...so yeah, undervolting with NHC is your best bet

I used a pin to open the vents in front of the hard drive and it made a difference for me. They have some kind of foam in front of them. I made holes in the foam with a pin...it took a long time, but it runs cooler. Of course I use NHC, otherwise this baby would be hotter than a firecracker!

Trailblazer NO~! That stuff is to keep dust out Oh well, maybe it'll be okay. Actually good idea, should be fine. You'll probably just have to dust earlier than others and more frequently.

Cheers,
Mike

Yes the imaginary notorious heat problem. Grab a drill and start drilling holes. Better yet. Remove the cpu and put some arctic silver on it. Thats not a yellow warranty seal its just your eyes playing tricks. I cant belive people still post this stuff.

I bought a screen door at Home Depot and replaced the entire bottom of my W3V with it. Runs cool as a cucumber now but occasionally I leave it open and the flies get in.

That's quite the cooling solution!
