A "cool" z70va - Page 2

silverwolf did you customize your fan settings?
It looks like to achieve those kinds of temperatures you would need custom fan settinges to keep your CPU and stuff cool.
I have mine on default and hover between 52-56 on light usage and 60-70 on extreme full out usage.
Default fan settings of course.

Err isn't that the whole point of my post?

so I just went through the whole walkthrough for SpeedFan and have everything set up....

thing is...my Remote2 temp is between 86-92C. Isn't that a little high?

My remote 2 starts out at around 55 and then goes up to around 65 no matter what task I am doing. I think yours is pretty high. You should increase your fan2 speed. I don't know why yours is higher. Everyone's laptop should be different. Maybe the heatsink to your graphics chip isn't seated correctly.

Ambient temp about 23c
This is awesome cpu 20c lower than before the tweak. Thanks!

One thing though,
do I have to start speedfan manually at every start up or can it be set to run at startup?

just drop a shortcut to the .exe file into your startup folder in the start menu- worked for me.

Bump, the information in this topic made my Z70Va 500% better. Before it used to emit a very noticeable hum 24/7 but now is quiet and cool (even while running games), only to kick up fans during certain HD access times.

Question though, will running games consistently under NHC/Speedfan for fans not to come on cause permanent damage in heat, or is there a natural safety mechanism in the laptop to crash (eg, non-stable) to prevent it?

For some reason my speedfan shows 3 fans, 1 and 2 are normal but then there is a mysterious third one. I've set it to full and still can't hear it.
Not going to risk opening up my laptop just to see it though.
