Does anyone know If I could or should get a slot-loading DVD-R drive for a new m5500?

Is a tray better opr worse. Im always afraid of breaking the tray on computers that i use, and i know a slot load is available on the 7700... So I guess this post is also about which one is better...

I have a slot on the 7700... although i ordered the tray..

after using it for about 3 months i think the slot is awesome....

with most things as long as you pay it the respect it deserves then it works for ya like a treat

slot is fine mate

i have both slotload and trayload on my 7700 and i would prefer to just have slotloading. trays scare me also but seem to vibrate more also.

The slot drive on my PowerBook has worked flawlessly for 2 yrs. It is a biatch if the disk gets stuck, but that seems to be a rarity.

I have both, and the slot-loader seems to get bumped when I'm moving it more often (making that impotent 'trying to eject a disk that isn't there' sound), but it is way cooler looking and (as mentioned), a lot less vibration. One of the reasons I'm using my external lightscribe instead of upgrading to that toshiba one. If someone makes a slot-loading lightscribe, I'm all over it (of course the added heat would probably MELT my system..)
