I think my 9300 have a problem... i tried to load sims 2 but it wouldnt even load! and also when i click on the open button thing on the CD drive the whole thing just pops out! is it suppose to do that? it wasnt what i expected... is it broken or suppose to be like that? and if it is suppose to be like that do you just push it in to close it? and why wont the game run? it have like 2GB or ram on it ><

but i only have Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB) is that the problem? i asked people on the board before and they said it there wasnt much difference from a 2.0GHz to a 1.73 but no one said it ment i couldn't pay games on it >< how much would it cost now to upgrade to a 2.0 GHz? or is there a way for me to play the games i like i without having to pay more?

The Ghz doesn't matter for the games depends on your video card.

I have the best! GF 6800 with 2 GBs of RAM and it still wont load it is because the thing is broken i mean it isnt exactly the cd drive i pictured like the one i have on my desktop... it just pops out and a half plate thing for you to put the cd. is that what dell gives everyone?

but seriously should this be enough to play Sims2?

2GB RAM
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
GF 6800

... i already spend enough money it would suck to have to pay another hunderd ><

and also the games says minium requirements is 2GHz so does that not matter still or am im screwed and have to upgrade again?

Maybe its your Sims disc.

well i can play it on my desktop but i have 2.0 GHz on it... or could it be that sims2 is one of those CD's that only allow you to install it once to one computer? its a DVD version but i got the dvd thing from dell so it should work?

and i think they said i need 800 MHz processor or better ... and i have "533MHz FSB" from what the Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB) said?

When you say you can't load the game, do you mean not being able to install it in your hard drive? Or were you able to install the game and after the install and click on game icon on your desktop that it won't load?

If it won't install, then maybe you should try installing another game. It it installs and you are able to play it, then I would think that your sims 2 cds are defective. If you encounter the same problem installing a different game, then, it could be your cd/dvd drive. Good luck.

Are you plugged in or on battery? have you tried installing another game and loading it? Is it just this 1 game or are other games / programs having this same problem. Have you attempted to uninstall and reinstall the game, making sure the installation directory and all game data is removed before you reinstall? Open and close other programs and see if they have a problem.

Your laptop is MORE than powerful enough to run the game you are attempting to load. As someone else stated.. you have a software problem with either the Windows OS or the game CD.

Also Yes the CD drive you have is typical of most laptop drives.

u probably trird installing WOW on the battery when it was at 797mhz. WoW requires 800mhz I think--it's been a while. And yeah, the 200 something cpu performance does not make a difference graphically and isn't even relevant to your problem. Try, like others pointed out, installing other games. Maybe you should consider benchmarking your CD if it does work.

try cleaning your cd's or dusting out your cdrom if anything else. GL.
