an enormous monitor or some sort...

Give me $7000 to blow on computer parts and I'd prolly get a really tricked out SLI PC with a huge great monitor (like a 30" Apple Cinema Display or some huge 1080p plasma thing or something) and a Powerbook

However if I won $7000 I wouldn't spend it on computer parts, I have little enough money as it is...

In conclusion - Donate it to me.

.......OK! I don't wanna donate.. Will anyone please tell me if it's good to buy 4gigs of ram please... =/

Sure, if you want it. You can't get 8 gigs unless you have a 64 bit chip and an OS to support it.

Plus what are you even using your pc for? Is it mainly a gaming machine, server, etc? Would he even be able to tell the difference between 2 gigs and 4 gigs when it comes to games? I doubt you would, but I’m not positive.

If you’re a music buff, I’d say go for it on the 60gig Ipod video. Many people say to buy a huge screen, but I’d go for duel screens if I wanted to blow 7000$ on electronics. Get two 19” and I’d be golden. Heck, if you want to blow the money, spend a 1000$ and get an xbox 360 from ebay. *chuckles*

Go for the Ram! Invest the rest and earn some more $

buy an alx and you won't need to upgrade anything, and you will have a grand or 2 left over.

You can order my set up for under 1100 note the awesome 24 inch display. Obviously you will probabaly want 2 of them on dual view and a better gfx card not to mention more ram.

to be serious, you only need about 2 gigs of ram at the most right now for games, so two 1 gig sticks should do you fine...a top of the line do-it-yourself computer with a very good display should run about $3000...

In my limited experience, my best advice is one RAM per flock. $7000 will buy quite a flock, though...

My ALX and monitors and various upgrades put me over 10k.

Is it an Intel or AMD system? Are you looking for DDR or DDR2? Things to look for in RAM:

CAS Latency: the "speed" per say, google it for more info
EEC - an extra cool feature, some sort of error protection
Buffered (Better than unbuffered) -- another goodie
Heat-Spreader = good

Agree with the above poster.

2 Gigs is all you really need.
