Jump in prices? Or am I crazy

Did the prices jump $300+ over night or what? They must have a backlog of machines to build and business is good. The whole "supply vs. demand" thing. Hmmm. Glad I ordered on the 5th.

phase 7: inspecting cables...yeah, whatever!

My laptop(which I had) went up $238.

My desktop(which I'm waiting for) went up $182

It looks like AW has gift cards now.

"Hello honey I wasn't sure what you wanted so I got you this $3500 gift card from AW"

Mine went up $195. I wonder if they upgraded the basic chasis to justify the increase or was it just demand that resulted in the price increase?

Glad I ordered on dec 4th
I paid 3,150 for mine and now it's 3,406 witht he increase for same config...
glad I'm only paying 3,150.

Well it's a last minute gift instead of waiting for the PC to come. You'd buy it if you don't know what configuration the person wants. The downside is, is that there is probably a phase list you have to go through like 4 phases.

i would agree, that's just an expesive gift..... I'm not rich my any means.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
My check is finally in the bank, ready to order, and now I dont know if I should order or wait till after xmas. Prices might go down after the holidays, but I might loose the $100 rebate on green plus the $60 EBgames voucher. If only AW woulda waited 2 MORE FREAKIN DAYS! UGH!

After seeing this thread I checked the Alienware web site. The first thing I noticed is that the Saucer Silver option is $400 dollars cheaper.

If you want a specialty color that's where the $$$ seems to come in. As I understand it the red, green, and blue Laptops have a much nicer finish than the silver ones.

I have a silver one and can tell you that forn what I've seen, the optional colors are much nicer -- smoother finish, and very glossy. The silver one isn't.

I'm sure all this will change, as prices and configurations are the one ever changing constant in the Alienware universe. That coupled with the fact that it is X-mas time, and they will take advantage of every opportunity to make an extra dollar, it is the American way.
