M20 beeping noise

Thread Starter
I recently bought a precision M20 off the dell outlet website are trying to work through a couple issues. I makes a faint noise like a beep anytime I do anything like open a program, click on a link, ect.... I muted all sounds and disabled the system speaker, but it still makes the noise. At first I thought that it may be the wireless card (Intel 2200), but now I think it is the hard drive (IBM 60gb 7200rpm). Is this just normal ?

I also tried to update the video card driver with the omega version. It recognized my mobility v3100 card as an x300. Should I go back to the ATI driver ? It seems to work just fine.

A06 Bios

I have a M20 too. But never experienced anything as you indicated. But since you are using a Hitichi 7K60, maybe you could try the new A06 BIOS. It will provide the new option to set the HD accustic options. It might help you.

As for which driver to use, Oemga should be fine. But I don't know if it provided the enhanced OpenGL functionality of V3100. I always modify the ATi Mobility driver by myself to make it work on the M20.

Do you have any idea how to make a D610 accept the M20 bios and fireGL driver, the drivers seem to be the same for X300 and V3100,so must have to have M20 bios to enable openGL optimizations and make X300 into V3100?
