Sumsung SEC5557 WUXGA , grainy screen

Hi all, I received my dell 9300 a week a ago and already replaced the screen (a dell technician did it) because I thought the screen is too grainy/sandy specially on a white background. Both were Samsung SEC5557. I would like to know from others that have the same model whether all lcd’s are like this, or maybe I should ask for another replacement, maybe the LG model. I have other lcd’s (desktop and laptop) and all are very smooth. The problem is not that bad and I can easily get used to it, but prefer smoother screens. I also read that this model SEC5557 is the best. What is your opinion?

thanks

Yes the SEC5557 is the best WUXGA LCD screen available. I also have it and absolutely love it w/ a little color adjustment of course. As for the the grainy look just set your dpi to 96 if you haven't already and use the samsung color correction that matches the LG http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...=samsung+color. I love this screen just play w/ it and adjust it to your likings. Hope this help

I agree with Snazzy, I had a 5557 on my last 9300 and just got my new one today and it has an LG and it sucks compared to the samsung. I am going to try to give it a week for some light bleed to go away but it is terrible, the samsung on my last 9300 rocked, wish I could get that monitor on this computer!

I already set the dpi to 96 and did the color correction.

the screen is nice but still grainy. It is hard to explain what grainy means, but comparing to other lcd's it's not smooth. you can almost see the pixels on a white background.

does any one know what i'm talking about, or is it just me. as far as i know color correction is just to correct the color but not the appearence of what is displayed.

I know what you are talkn about, it doesn't bother me at all, and I don't have the fix to your solution. Though this is the best WUXGA that Dell offer. If it bother you that much I think you should call Dell and see if you can get a replacement for it. Best of luck 2 ya.
