Thank you cobra for this post. I'm getting my 7800GTX for
Total Order Amount: $256.73
If I sell my 6800 Ultra for $150, I'll be the most happy dude on the Earth!

Please correct me if I am wrong here. I am currently running bios ver. A04 for my XPS2. It is my understanding that this was the version where compatibility for the 7800 was initially introduced and I will not be required to update to A05 in order to successfully install the 7800. Is this correct?

Can you tell them to charge your credit card instead of your DPA?

Yes I did, No Problem.

Yeah I had them charge my VISA rather than use my DPA.

Does this come with the 7800 gtx heatpipe's(2 heatpipes) or is it just the card itself? I'm hold right now with spare parts.

$271.17 with heatpipe and shipping. Didn't know if the heatpipes came with the kit or not so I ordered it. It was only $10.95. I'm getting my 9300 next week with just a ati x300 in it so I didn't know if that had these heatpipes either. I just assused not. Thanks for the heads up on this guys.

did you order it without having the laptop first? did they ask for a service tag or anything?

How did you manage that? Don't you pay tax? or has the price drop from $248.73?

Some places don't have to pay tax if Dell is not in the state.

I don't even have the 9300 yet. I told them I was fixing a friends xps2. He wanted "her" info initially and I told him that I was her technician and wanted to use my own DPA. The rest is history, except I wasted $11 on an extra heatsink. Oh well. $272 better than $500.

rallycobra- you are a demigod. I had to pay tax, so a total of $285. Sure beats $500, or whatever deal you get otherwise.

I am a hypocrite for saying the 7800 isn't worth it...but seriously, I'm only doing this because if something better comes out, like an 8800, then I'll be able to sell my 7800 to compensate for much of the cost because nobody would buy a 6800 by that time...especially since everyone would be selling 7800's. So in the end, I'll hopefully save money. At least I should break even...and in the meantime, I'll enjoy a faster video card.

On the ordering process- gave my service tag, said I wanted info on that part number, said I didn't know what video card I had, said I didn't know if it was an upgrade or a replacement. He came back and said it'll cost 248.73 before shipping and tax. It was almost too easy...

I also asked about warranty info. He told me that since I was putting the part in a compatible Dell system, it takes on the 3 year complete care warranty that I bought, so no worries. Refurb or not, I don't care...I don't overclock. As long as it works like it should, I'll be happy. But since the card just came out, I don't think refurbs are any different from new cards (if there is such a distinction).

Adding "hypocrite" to my signature now...

I assume they shipped out $450 ones initially with bad packaging and the copper fins on the heatsink got bent so people sent them back.. they then replaced the fins and now they are refurbished... just my hypothesis...
