How I ordered a 7800gtx go for $259.68 - Page 55

sucks that they cracked down. I didnt plan on doing the upgrade anytime soon. Hopefully when a 6800 just wont cut it for me anymore they will be cheap again. For now a 6800 is fine for me.

There's a real good chance they don't have any refurbs left to sell right now.
Give it a couple weeks.

I jsut had 2 delivered this morning they were refurbs. If you believe dell is "Running out of refurbs" you are mistaken

Folks.. just listen to Bal`thzar.. They have 100's if not 1000's of these things on hand. You just need to keep calling. If you cant/dont want to then checkout the For Sales/Wanted forum here for Bal`thzar's listings as I know he's sold a few here. Yes he has a slight markup but hey.. Your the one who doesn't wanna take the time and call so pay the little extra. Checkout eBay as I have seen a dozen or more up there in the past few days.

For those of you who dont quite have the cash at this time sit back and wait. In 6 months from now you'll be able to get them at this price anyways or you'll be looking then at nVidia's new lineup. Hopefully it'll fit the 9300's also!

The next card might very well be a waste paired with a 2Ghz P-M.

If you think that posting on the Dell forums has anything to do with it, I don't see how that is possible. I only found out about notebookforums.com in the first place because of the Dell forums!
Dell also read this forum to find out what people are doing with their laptops just as much as the Dell forums....there have been posts on this before. Somebody was actually phoned up by someone at Dell asking how he got the information about 7800 part numbers that he posted on notebookforums.com.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with information being posted on Dell forums.
There has been much information there on the post on upgrades such as this.
Other people from this forum have even posted on notebookforums about how they told people at Dell about how the found out about the upgrade and chatted to them about it, etc.

Any one been able to order a 7800gtx in the last few days for under $500. They wont sell it to me. They say this price of $250 is for referb and there not allowed to sell referbs any more and I must buy a new one with installation fee. i will not spend $599 on it when i plan on upgrading to a dual core note book soon .
The guy on eBay has 100% positive feedback for the 40 7800gtx’s he sold. You think that’s a good idea? Any one

ok well just to update people looking here. As of this morning my order was still valid for the 4 though I have taken down my for sale thread until they ship. once they ship I will see what kind of new pricing dell has.

If my pricing goes up the 4 I will be having delivered will go to the first 4 people who inquire once the new thread goes up.

He sold 40 7800gtx's? How could he get so many? I guess he has some internal connection with Dell?

btw, I bought from the good old "Mark" for $410 including tax and shipping. Actually happy with it since the core can oc to 490 per "auto detected" by the driver. It plays FarCry @485core without artifacts!

Well, my second order was cancelled. Wonder what their excuse will be this time?

He's been at it since early December. Makes about $130 on each sale too; more if he's from a non-taxed state. Not too shabby, eh?

Before christmas they were selling for almost $500 each and the guy you were talking about isn't the one that really cleaned up look up the ebay name "snugharbor" that cat cleaned up big time.

he isn't makeing that much currently on his sales because you have to factor in fees both paypal and Ebay, shipping and insurance. he is prolly making about $75 each

Hope this helps

got mine $277.49 total /w 2day shipping and taxes. I think they might be cracking down a bit so make sure that you use an XPS Gen2 or M-170 service tag instead of a 9300 service tag (this is oviously only if you have a 9300, if you have a XPS then just use your own service tag )
also make sure if they give you a higher quote to tell then you were quoted for a price of $252.22 by some1 at dell support forums. Also i used the part # CG809, it seems like the other one (HF594) isn't working anymore. Aso of the 19th my order got to DHL with no problems and is supposed ta be here the 23th (monday) so i think im safe

Edit: oh, yah... you were the guy who ordered Tuesday night, right? If its off to the carrier, you're in good shape.

My second cancelled order said they can't ship it because they have no stock in the parts, and that they'd call me back in a week or two and "keep me posted". Has anyone had success placing new orders this weekend?
nope sorry i ordered either the 17th or the 16th it SHIPPED the 19th (sorta i think DHL only got it da 20th or 21st) and its arriving on monday (23rd).

On a listing that ends for $400, ebay fees are $11.62. after his $20 shipping charge, the Paypal fees on $420 will be $12.18. Shipping through a major carrier or USPS will be $12-$15 with insurance, depending on shipping destination.

So...

$420 - $11.62 - $12.18 - $15 = $381.20

For me, in Taxas, the price with 3-5 day shipping for each card from Dell is $280 and some change. So, if he lives in a taxed state, that particular auction would earn him $100. If he lives in an untaxed state, he would earn more than $120. That's assuming the auction I was looking at when I made that post ended at $400... knowing eBay, I suspected that in the day left in the listing the bid would increase.

So, we can both be wrong.

Edit: is your order still un-cancelled?

my order is still uncanceled

but also factor in Paypal fees and considering most are international orders there is the cross border fee and again figguring on international shipping with insurance runs more like $30 to most destinations <shrug>

So, if they're really trying to crack down on people not using XPS service tags...somebody wanna PM me with one? I'm gonna try calling a few times tomorrow night, and probably keep trying for a couple days.
