I dont have AOM, but I would be interested in UT2K3 and can even host a dedicated server on my T1
post #22 of 46
Would you host the demo version? That would be sweet, especially if I can't host from behind the school firewall.

good idea beebs to work out the kinks before trying to do an event with UT2k3 demo. If you guys have a successful test, you can count me in for the actual event. If I can't get an AOM event going, I may as well join in on a UT2k3 event? I would rather do both though. Hopefully, the AOMers will emerge to express their interest in doing an AOM event too.

regardless of the games we choose, it is great to do these events as it helps increase the community feel of the forum to sort of get to know some fellow sagerites in the context of the games.

So who makes Battlefield? I've missed a number of these games apparently.....You compare it to C&C (one of my personal favorites)

battlefield 1942 not like C&C

BF1942 is not like C&C. C&C Generals I have read about and seen screen shots, and it is basically a 3D version of the prior C&C games, with some differences and new ideas. It is an RTS game, as was the original C&C. BF 1942 is a first person shooter. The only similarities are that they both involve somewhat realistic conventional warfare. However, BF 1942 is much more authentic WWII military, whereas C&C Generals is more fictional/adaptive. I imagine both BF 1942 and C&C Generals are great games. However, AOM is much more like C&C than BF1942, because AOM is an RTS. C&C was my first love in the RTS genre. AOM is the best RTS I have seen to date, and I have seen many, including WarCraftIII. I haven't seen anything but promos on C&C Generals, but it could be better than AOM for all I know. I think it was already released. I am concerned by the demise of Westwood Studios though and what that may mean for the future of C&C Generals?

well looks like just 3 people

Looks like only 2 people, Azartrus and Yale2006 have expressed an interest in doing a Sagerite Age of Mythology game. At least coordinating the scheduling won't be difficult with only three. I am open to playing almost any night of the week. In fact, I might actually prefer doing it on a weeknight if it is just going to be 3 of us. So I guess Azartrus and Yale2006 want to pick a night sometime soon to play, then we can post when it will be and we may get some extra people joining in last minute. I suggest we play this Thursday night at 10pm Eastern Standard Time. But tell me when you would prefer to play and I can likely accomodate. The only restriction for me is it is difficult to play before 9:30 pm any night because have to put 10 month old daughter to bed between 9 and 9:30 most nights. This of course assumes you both still have an interest in light of the total number. We could play as a team in a 3v3 game or some other such thing if we play against random online players to make it a larger game, or we could just play 1v1v1 or depending on skill levels, 2v1. Let me know what you would like to do and thanks for the prior responses.

I'd join you right now, but I have no computer at all until my 8887 arrives. As soon as I get that, I'll tell ya. The 9:30 time is fine for me, I wouldn't mind at all.

Cheers.

scheduling

We are shooting for this Saturday night, March 1, at 9:30 pm EST for the 3rd Sagerite gaming event, the game this time being AOM. If you would prefer Thursday night, Feb. 27 at the same time, please let me know, and we may reschedule.

So far the players that expressed interest were:
shlo_mo_shun
tyrchon
daytrade
Arzartrus
Yale2006
me (of course)

others that I know have AOM:
mrkrichie
allbad
Wzierbovsky
Zachquiel
mdchaser

so hopefully one or more of those guys will join us as well. up to 12 people can play, but all need pretty good comps and internet connections to make a game that big play well. If you have a friend that also wants to play in this event, chances are we will have extra slots, because we only had 4 or 5 play in the counterstrike Sagerite gaming event.

if you plan to play in this event, please post your eso name so I can mark it as friend.

This coming Saturday, March 1, at 9:30 pm Eastern Standard Time, I will host an advanced setup game on ensemble studios online. just start the program, click multiplayer, click online, login, then click the advanced setup button and you should be able to see a game hosted by erisalitposeidon, called "Sagerite gaming event" somewhere in the list. If you mark that name as friend, you can message me to let me know you are online and I can invite you in the game so you don't need to find it in the list, but the list is never more than say 75 games long in my experience. Alternatively, I may play under the name erisalit32. That is the main name I play under, but I have been fooling around learning the Poseidon civ and playing under the poseidon name for that. Sometimes when you play under one name, if you try to switch back to a different name associated with the same cd key, ESO doesn't allow you to log on for a while. So mark both names as friends just for the heck of it.

looking forward to Saturday night for some fun gaming against Sagerites. I will try not to kill you all too quickly, bu ha ha ha. Oh yeah, trash talking for this event may now commence . . .

Why is this thread in two places? I'm so easily confused.

Bad enough I have two brain cells left to kill... which one goes first....

Nuts, well hopefully you have more for AOM than we did for CS. AOM doesn't need that many people though, i assume?

CS again next time?

sorry to be duplicative and confusing. I couldn't figure which forum if I were going to limit it to one. we maximize viewage and participation by posting it here, but it also can get lost in the many other messages posted here, whereas in the gaming forum it is hard to miss, but not all the potential players frequent the gaming forum

sorry for the misspelling Azartrus. Will Azartrus be your name on ESO? If possible, all playing this weekend please use the same name as you use here so people will recognize who is who. ESO lets you set up as many aliases as you want, so unless it is already taken by someone else, you should be able to create an account with the same name you use in this forum.

Any reason that uses the word VIEWAGE is OK by me!

schedule

just to confirm the schedule, for those interested, at roughly 9:30 pm EST Saturday night, look for a game hosted by me called "Sagerite gaming event." I will probably create the game as early as 9:15 pm, so people can start joining, and probably not start the game until around 9:45 pm, to give people some time to find it and join. If the game starts without you for some reason, you can message me while I am playing by clicking on the friends button, clicking on "erisalit32" or "erisalitposeidon", whichever one is showing as online, and then clicking message. I won't be able to reply, but I will know there is someone else wanting to join and we could possibly restart a game to let you in if it hasn't gotten too far into it. If we decide to restart, I will message you asap. If we finish the game we started, I will message you after for the next game. I anticipate we will play maybe 3 games. Games last about an hour.

confirm your eso name

Yale had to bail. He cant play on eso from his school network. So that leaves:

shlo_mo_shun
tyrchon
daytrade
Azartrus

as those who have either confirmed they will join in the fun Saturday night or who have expressed interest. I will assume your eso name is the same name as your Sagerforums name and mark those as friend to help me be aware when/if you log on Saturday night. If you plan to use a different nickname for the event, please let me know. Thanks.
