Luke, Is this still a possibility from what you know?

Not sure who widowPC is, but I have heard about Rock Direct...

A couple more Questions for Luke or anyone that may know,

Who are the primary distributers for clevo laptops? Is it just Sager? and/or any others? Example, does companies like Rock direct and Alienware deal with clevo directly or??

Who/ how/ what company actually gets to be first?? and get the notebooks to their customers first?

Thank you for any info you may have

I hate these articles, it makes it sound like these RockDirect and WidowPC etc. companys actually make the laptops, further confusing the average joe and never giving them the right facts!

AND, from the last line

"It will a close thing: as you can see, the two system builders' machines are identical. ®"

It makes me wonder if the writer has any intelligence at all, or he is simply taunting the consumer-- or perhaps hes as dumb as they are.

Hi Zgold

All clevo machines are similar but not always the same, just because the main componants are the same the things like Hard and Optical Drives plus the WI-FI and Bluetooth componants are normally different.

As for who ships first I'm from the UK and think Rock will beat all there and it's down to you guys to have a race in US,
US V UK is pointless as they have different markets and cutomers.

Sager is Clevo's largest volume reseller, as such they are also the 1st to ship with new products. I am sure I am about to step on a Clevo resellers toes with this but hey we are about setting everything straight, not about making everyone happy.

Sager's method of releasing a product:
1. Don't tell anyone about the product until it is complete, only announce it out of necessity.
2. If you are offered a demo model that does not have all the functionality of what the MP model will have, tell Clevo not to bother.
3. Put up preorders when you have stock, not just specs.
4. The model is about to release, put an add in one magazine and yell at PCT to put a review up on NBF.

Some other resellers method of releasing a product(some not all):
1. I heard a laptop might come out, drop hints everywhere... must generate more hype.
2. You have received rough specs an a artist rendition of what the laptop might look like, release a news announce that your company was the 1st to ship it.
3. You have the final specs but the product is still in debugging with no clear ETA... put up preorders and tell everyone you have them in stock put they will take 5 weeks to configure...
4. 5 weeks are up and no product, mark something as out of stock and try to change the subject as much as possible on your companies forums. Hey, you already got their money.... what's another month gonna matter anyway?
5. You have 1 demo model and your brother-in-law wants that laptop, ship it to him and have him post that their company was the 1st to ship one out.

[rant] While some of my statement are exagerate, most aren't. If you planning on flaming me for poking fun inderectly at a company that you have a direr love for is only going to cause me to poke more fun... guess I am a troll at heart huh. [/rant]

Summary

Sager = Ship 1st
Real ship date = unknown
expected ship date = Mid Dec.
Luke = Troll

Any more questions?

I'm not going to flame as I've already said it's a race for the US not the UK V US in my book.

But I did like the post.
From your post I am taking your answer as a Yes it is possible, is this correct?

Where did yuo get the $6000 price tag from? And are there any hints as too how much more expensive the X2 will be over the 5720?

...

or once the X2 is out, any chance the price on the 5720 will drop ever so slightly?

Are you inferring Sager/Clevo reps troll these forums for user input? =P

Well Luke, you should be getting yelled at by Sager any day now. They already put ads for the 9750 in the Dec. issue of Maximum PC and Maximum PC's Winter Quarterly.

They had one in the Nov issue too lol. Here I sit waiting

I configured one on widowpc's site, the price came to over $6k for one . . . PCT's price for a similarly configured 9890 was just of $3k I think. Somehow, I dont think that the 4800+ processor will cost $3k . . . but I could be wrong.
The 4800 is worth about 800$. The highest intel P4 is similarly if not more expensive.
lol that was sarcasm there from me

Here are some prices after delivery. I took the most common prices from pricewatch.

I personally would rather a 2ghz dual core turion when those come out in january.

(The p4 3.8 is a complete rip)

P4 3.8ghz- $860
Pentium D 840 EE- $1,000+
Pentium D 849- $540

Turion MT-34 (25w, 1.8ghz)- $215
X2 4800- $785
Athlon 64 FX 57- $1,000
