I've gone through a chain of Sony A series WUXGA models over the past few years; buying cheap via refurbs then selling to get a more powerful model. The screen is easily the best available. Or was.

However, I haven't seen a WUXGA A series refurb on the Sony site for months, and you cannot configure an A600 with a WUXGA screen. Once you try to place it in your cart you get a 'Not Available' pop up. So my upgrade path is stymied unless I use eBay and go for an A790.

Does anyone know if this is official? Has Sony stopped producing the best laptop screen available?

The BX cannot be ordered with anything other than a WXGA. Sony say the high res screen is available, but not to anyone who wants to buy one.

I'm filling in with an Asus W2V, and Dell and Sager have WUXGA with appropriate power, but I'd like to know for sure.

CompUSA and JR no longer list the A series. Sony Europe have it as Not Available. In fact the only place where I could add a WUXGA Sony to a cart was here in Australia, but $3700 US for even the 2.26 version is a tad too much.

Anyone have inside info?

Cheers
