Guess its personal opinion. I think the 710m looks much better.

The stands raise the bottom of the notebook slightly off the desk or table, which makes it possible for the *single* cooling fan to draw air up from under the notebook and exhaust it out the left side.

did they end up fixing the clunky mouse buttons?

I'm not a fan of the white keyboard either, but I do like the dark silver trim better than the 700m's white trim.

I tell you what. Find out if you can swipe that keyboard for the black one and you have got yourself a killer looking laptop.

Yeah, who knows??? The white keyboard might even make a better fit in terms of color coordination with the 700m's white trim!!! I can't wait for Dell to finally have the white keyboard for the 710m but... do you think Dell will be willingly to sell it to someone with a 700m???

I plan on calling dell spare parts when the 710 comes out in the states.

You may be right. But I wonder how do apple, sony, asus, ibm/lenovo, etc make 1" thin laptops? My work laptop, IBM thinkpad, is thinner than 700m.

I'm still loving it. The keyboard is great. Its size hasn't been a problem for me at all.

You would probably pay a lot more for a thinkpad too. Generally ultra thins and special features like lit keypads are going to be found on high end/premium laptops. I would highly doubt something like the 700m/710m, which is a small but cheap laptop designed for the masses would ever include something like that - not without a price increase that is.

If you want thin, the X1 is. I'm using one - it also has no fan so it's silent. The only thing is, it uses an ULV processor. In fact, most 1" thin ones do too (IBM i think uses LV, Sony TX, Toshiba R, etc.).

I don't see why they wouldn't sell you one. More money for them

I love the white one. The machine looks perfect just as it is. I am really happy with it. The current keyboard has a really nice feel to it, so much better than my 8600 was, and than normal desktop keyboards. Its great!!!

I am quite happy with the thickness of the 710m. Its such a small laptop, that 3-6mm difference in thickness really isn't a bother. Its about as thick as my i8600 was, but it is so much smaller in the other dimensions that it is great!!! So much nicer to carry around than the 8600. I can just slip it under my arm without a problem. I could with the i8600, but it was a lot bigger and heavier.

All around, you have got yourself a nice lappy. Dell makes excellent laptops alot better than the mainstream: HP, Toshiba, and Sony.
