Battlefield 2 Headset

I am putting BF2 on my holiday wish list. In the past I enjoyed BF 1942 and BF Vietnam. It sounds like this game is best if you have a headset so that you can talk to people in your squad. Any recommendations from the BF2 Veterans out there on what brands(s) work best with our notebooks?

Oh man this is scary stuff, personally I have a USB headset and a Creative LAbs PCMIA, sound card. That = 3 sound cards. My system when crazy, I had to uninstall everything, I suggest just moving over to a USB headset, and that's it and disable Sigmatel, goingback on it.

Actually, most people dont use headsets in BF2, but I have one for CS:S anyway. I got a Logitech 350 USB headset, works and sounds great, especially since it only costs $50.

You don't need a headset, just get a $2.50 desktop mic: http://froogle.google.com/froogle_cl...coring=p&hl=en

With the our notebooks that contain integrated audio are most people going with a USB headset (which essentially replaces our integrated audio with USB audio) or are you going with a more traditional headset that connects through headphone/mic jacks that do utilize the integrated audio? I have tried a Turtle Beach USB sound card with my XPS and was not impressed - thought the onboard audio sounded just as good with my Cambridge Soundworks THX speakers.

I use a Philips 805 USB 5.1 sound processor, partly because I got it for 60% off ($20), but mainly because it's easier to connect one plug into the back of my notebook instead of speaker and microphone cables into the side. In terms of quality I don't really notice a difference but I'm not using 5.1 speakers either.
