Graphic card upgrade possible in Mx438G(?)

Ok, as I think this is something that might interest some of us Mx438G owners, I noticed that a one guy here claims that he has tested the GeForce Go 6800 Ultra on the Amilo M3438G and that it worked OK. He is also supposedly going to test the GeForce Go 7800GTX in it as well.
...At least that is what I think he said, the posts were in german originally, the babelfish versions that I read are below, you can make your own call on it:

Unfortunately I must disappoint you there, the 7800 GTX give it only as Mxm iii module and do not fit thus probably in your Notebook.

The M3438G has however default-moderately a Geforce 6800 Go as Mxm iii in it and the radiators is appropriate also for Mxm iii. And there Mxm iii is besides downward compatible, leaves themselves also a smaller diagram map to insert there. However one should not forget that the BIOS of the map must be still geflasht (display type etc....)

I can be built in the next days 7800 GTX into my M3438G and flashen, times seen whether it folds.

Greeting
January

Unfortunately is not yet available the 7800 GTX, so that I must wait still 1-2 weeks. A test with 6800 U ran however positively, so that the 7800 will most likely also funzen. The part costs forwards approx. € 800.-!!!
Needless to say that this isn't exactly information to believe 100%, but I thought it was worth posting anyway... if anyone has any information about the possibility of GPU upgrades for this laptop, please do let us know here.

I dont know, but I definetely and strongly believe the card can be upgraded after I have looked inside. I have no doubt the Ultra and GTX fits. But it must be confirmed

The fit alright, but a GTX consumes a lot more energy than a 6800 go and as a result produces more heat. I've heard people having problems on their 3438G's even with the standard 6800 go DDR1, so I would imagine that with a 7800 GTX the thing would go up in flames after 2 hours of B2 if not reastarting all the time. I could be wrong though but I don't beleive it. The Amilo's are just too slim and don't have enough fans.

My 2 cents.

Yes, the cooling solution sure isn't too good, but I remember reading an article that mentioned that the DDR1 memory actually gets hotter than the DDR2 and DDR3 variants.
It would sure be interesting to see someone taking a shot at the upgrading.

Is there anybody who did a successful upgrade to 6800ultra on FSC M3438?

Extra cooling might help

Here`s an article... About a year old, but I`ve checked the manufacturer`s page, still ok, looks allright... Better than nothing I guess.
