Sager or Aw or ????

well... my dad give me like $2500-$2600 for this and 3 more xmas, plus 5 b-days, so I like to get a laptop, a GOOD one, with long life term... I want a laptop just for gaming and some web design... any comment help... recomendation??? thanks for all

Wait a month for the new 8790. It is going to have the new Mobility 9700 256mb video card and the Prescott processor.

If that gets too expensive(not sure on the price), just go for the 5680

You could also wait around the time the 8790 comes out b/c the AW might have the 9700 in it also.

For the best buys you might plan on witing until mid/late February. The "Bleeding" edge may be replaced by the "Leading Edge" as far a prices go by then - or so I hope.

$2,500/$2,600 is a lot of money; however, you will be seeing a "lot of machine" that may well cost more that that.

Well, Im biased (arent we all), but with $2400 you get the 4080 with max spec's. That will be a 3.2 Ghz processor with 1 GB Ram on a 60GB HD with 7200 rpm and 2xdvd player on a SXGA screen. And its only 7-8 pounds as opposed to 9 or 12 for the more hefty models.

i like this place a lot. there is a lot of useful info. the thing i dont understand is why people fell they need to comment if a question has been asked before. sure you can search to find the exact answers that your looking for, but some people just dont have that much time. you can see what the post is about before you click on it. if you dont want to read it dont. if you dont want to read it, dont reply to it. why is it such a big deal to ask the exact question that you want? not just read someone elses question. i think its worse to read all of the complaints about the repeated questions, than the repeated questions themselves. maybe its just me?

I agree, searchen is a good thing, but so is keeping this a friendly place where people can just drop by and ask anything they want to.

But apparently we have the time to answer the same question over and over and over. This exact question - down to the exact title has been asked literally dozens of times and the answers are almost always exactly the same. 2 seconds of searching could have answered the question and freed the board to answer a question that hasnt been asked 20 times.

I answer a lot of posts (hell my post count will tell you that). If your question is a tech question I will go out of my way to point you at the answer - even if its already been answered. But stuff like this is just laziness on the part of the poster.

It has nothing to do with being a howler. Especially since I didnt flame the guy in the first place

Dont worry Albreck - its not that bad - I just dont like being called a flamer when I am not.

To answer your original question I feel the Sager is the better machine. Its cheaper, has the dual band memory and I like the Sager support.
