Apple MAc G4 OR Sony vaio FJ series?

Hi All,

I am thinking about getting a laptop.
Any experience/comparision between these two?
Specs and features look similar on paper...
Any recommendations?

What are you looking to use your computer for?

And you do know that Macs use a completely different operating system right?

Well, wait until january until you make your final decision. New products will be released.

But, it depends on what you plan on using the notebook for. Gaming, work, dependability, travel uptime...? There are a lot of details that come in to play, especially when you are comparing 2 computers, let alone, 2 that are totally different.

well, i use basic office applications, (word, ppt, XL), presentations, some music, little movie.
No need for virus, frozen screen, etc.

Is it easy to get used to Tiger OS after Windows? (they have office for Mac as well, right?)

sweet jeebus, ease up on the "submit post" button! i deleted the 4 u repeated.

the sony will most likely have a brighter and glossy screen (Brighter good: glossy, not so much). either will work for what you want. i'd suggest, as other have to wait till next month if u can. wait and see what Apple rolls out.

I just wait and in the meantime I do some research here and there, reading, going to apple stores, etc. (gotta do that homework, i guess...)

ALSO: how safe is it to buy G4 on the ebay? some are for seemingly good price, even half price (much better than store)

the times i've tracked selling prices on ebay, the "bargains" aren't always that great. try watching a few auctions and see how much they go for. the actual selling price isn't always the great half-off it appears to be even 10 minutes b4 the auction ends.

basically don't buy expensive products from ppl that don't have a good and sizable reputation.

for anything new i'd recommend amazon (rebates), or an apple store (retail or online/telephone) if u qualify for academic pricing and u want to customize.
