First of all, the Search feature is repeatedly giving me a "Page cannot be displayed error", so I apologize for what is likely a repeat...
Secondly, I'm considering purchasing an NP9890, and would like clarification on the capabilities of the built-in tuner. If I hook up the tuner via composite cable (along with S-Video if necessary) to a VCR, can I use something like Pinnacle Studio to perform the actual capturing? Will Studio detect the tuner as a capture device? Will I be able to store the video in AVI format with minimal or no compression?
If this approach won't work, or if AVI is not a supported format, I'll probably end up purchasing an External USB2.0 capture device like the Dazzle DVC90.
And finally, regarding overheating, I've read some owners who claim this unit gets WAY too hot, and others who say it's much cooler than the Inspiron 9200 or equivalent Pavillion. I don't use it much for gaming -- mostly desktop/video/programming applications. But it will sit on a desk, so I'm concerned about the lack of clearance between the bottom of the laptop and the desk. Does the laptop have small stands to give it some clearance?
