Dell 700m video card

Thread Starter
I have just ordered a dell 700m with the standard processer, 512 ram, and an extra battery (8 cell) and i was wondering if the video card (i think its a media excelarator, intel) will play the following list of games:
CS, WoW, The Movies, Star Wars galaxies, and this is the most important and most unsure BF2 at the lowest settings possible. I will probably be upgrading my

ram to 1gb at christ mas thx.

I have tested CS1.6, The Sims2, Pro Evolution Soccer 5 on the 700m.

What about Counter Strike Source?

I haven't tried CS:S since I dont have a copy.

It should play them all OK at low settings. It isn't gonna be a highend desktop or Laptop gaming system but it should still play them ok.

I'll confirm it runs WoW but... it also depends on what your definition of "runs" is.

I think it tops out at 12fps in Darkshore (IF is far worse) and it lags a lot in combat (even with 1.25gb ram). I've checked while in game and the shared video in settings info is saying its only using around 16mb video, not the max (I think 64mb?) so that probably doesnt help. I wouldn't recommend the 700m if you're going to do any serious gaming with stuff from the last 2 years ideally. I suppose I could tone down the rez from the 1280x960 to 800x600 but then WoW looks like crud on that lcd. I love my 700m but sadly I foolishly thought I wouldn't want to run many games on it or namely WoW (and I doubt civ4 will work well on it). It runs Icewind Dale, Starcraft, and Total Annihilation fine though.

That's correct, the 700/710m uses the Intel Extreme 2 integrated graphics card which has no DX8 or DX9 hardware support - BF2 requires PS1.4 (DX8.1) support.

However, even if it could run it, the game wouldn't be playable - on the low end discrete graphics cards (8500/9000/9100/9200) the framerate is nowhere near good enough to be playable.

Counter-Suck: Source won't run, but regular Counter-Suck will.

I guess you don't like CS do you

I just tested Half-Life 2 on my 700m, and it runs fine with all settings at the minimum except texture detail (medium) and shadar level (high, believe it or not - I don't think it's really set at high, though, it just says it is, and if I try to change it the game crashes). This is at the 700m's Native 1200x800 resolution.
It looks great! I don't see why CS source won't run, but it isn't so smooth at 1200x800 that it would be comfortable for online competition.

I just installed CS:S on my 700m today and I was crawling at 10fps with 1280x800 all low settings. If you want to play CS:S as a turn based game, then go for it!
