Dell Drivers vs NVidia Drivers

Thread Starter
Excuse my ignorance but what will be the consequences if I install the NVidia drivers on my M170? My friends Alienware M7700 ran like really bad when he tried the ATI drivers instead of the Alienware specific ones. Just wondering what will happen with the NVidia ones on mine?

Thanks
Will

By running the NVIDIA drivers you will be in danger of having the latest drivers and access to more options allowing you greater control over your card, watch out...

Ditto. Just experiment. Can't really get into too much trouble here.

Dell drivers tend to be more stable, less glitchy/problems. Nvidia drivers are going to be newer and have more options available, also the downclocking temp threshold is 101C on the nvidia drivers and 95C on the dell drivers.

Jaxx,
The normal is that the manufacture drivers are more up to date and stable. Also as mentioned before you will have more control of you GPU.

My 2 cents.

Dell drivers are nVidia drivers. Dell just locks out certain options that are available in the nVidia released drivers. If you want the best performance then you should stick with the latest nVidia drivers.

Anybody use the beta NVIDIA driver 82.10 Forceware? How is it compared to the 81.94 Forceware. Thanks for the input.
82.10 isn't very good IMO. IQ and Performance are both less than 81.95 (which is better than 81.94, I might add). Ya know, if you want the "latest-and-greatest" driver, just head on over to http://www.tweaksrus.com, and look in the Downloads for XTreme-G Mobile Edition\MobileForce drivers (I know, another plug for my drivers ).

Well as for me I tried the Optimized drivers from laptopvideo and i experienced tearing in Movies and Games. Should I try the not non-optimized Nvidia drivers? I went back to Dell stock and everything was fine though.

thx

LET ME SETTLE THIS 78.11 drivers from tweaksrus.com work best dell sort of underclocks the card.
