Personally I'd be interested in some CS:S and WoW Fps. But that's just me. Oh oh! also tell us what you think of the screen size and real estate, like if it's spacious or too small.

Hello all,
I'm new to the site (which is very informative BTW) and have a question. First, congrats on the new laptop. About two weeks ago I ordered a 5500 as well but I got the 80GB 7200 RPM drive and a 2.00 GHz processor instead of the 2.26 processor. Hopefully it will still function great. I am also new to the laptop market and don't believe I knew the Pentium M processors were equivalant to a higher perntium IV processor speed. Am I hearing this right? Anyone have any info or a webiste that may help me understand this? Thank you.

power usuage(has a few pages)
http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/05/...st/page20.html

This is only for desktops that i know of

"Additionally, we were able to raise the FSB from 133 to 160 MHz without any trouble at all. The result was that our 2.13GHz Pentium M 770 ended up running at 2.56 GHz! At this clock speed, our two year old platform was able to beat the processor heavyweights Athlon 64 FX and Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition in all 3D games!"

and here! all the real info u could want
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_M
"e.g. a 1.6 GHz Pentium M can typically attain the performance of a 2.4 GHz Northwood Pentium 4 "

Thanks to you as well, mmauro. Quite a helpful forum here. That was an increibly detailed article. Very informative. The M certainly seems to be able to handle itself fairly well.

Roswell - I think you got the right processor. The cost to jump to the next level is quite expensive. I've got the 2.0 GHz CPU in the XPS 2, and it is just fine. The computer is very fast. With the m5500, I'm guessing the GPU will be the bottleneck, and even the slower CPUs will be okay. The m5500 is a nice package, and everyone is looking forward to the reviews once you early birds get yours.

As mentioned by another poster, there is a review of the Uniwell version of this notebook in the "Other Brands" section of the main review section: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=106339

Shazza,
Thanks for the help. I got the 256mb video so I hope the bottleneck isn't too great. I don't know allot about notebook hardware and understand there are much better 256mb gpu's out there but really did not want to get the 5500's big brother. For my needs it is just a bit too big. I will be sure to keep everyone updated (still in Phase II by the way) and post pics as soon as it hits my doorstep. Thanks again.
