UNIX tweak required

does anyone know how to switch between different windows by just scrolling over it like on Unix machines instead of clicking it like in Windows??

to switch between windows without clicking (mouseless) you hit Alt-Tab. To switch between tabs within a window you hit Ctrl-Tab.

He means in UNIX you can move your mouse over a window and activate it, I think anyway.

Look in your mouse control panel... there is something similar to that also in my other laptops trackpad settings.

.. ohh I havent played with Linux Desktops in soooo long >:-/ What your looking for is the desktop behavior. Look for a setting dealing with 'focus'. I knwo what you want but its been so long. If you have 5 windows open you can change (or focus) on one another simply by moving to mouse over/onto it without having to click on it.

Where the exact setting is depends on which Window Manager your using like KDE, Enlightenment, etc. I think if your using Enlightenment its in the "Enlightenment Configuration Tool" under "Basic Options" on the left and then on the right something like "Keyboard focus follows". Choose the "Mouse Pointer" option. I think the other 2 were Sloppy Focus and Pointer Clicks which you do not want. Hope this helps a bit.

Edit.. What distribution and desktop manager are you using?

Microsoft Powertoys: TweakUI

Menu: Mouse>X-Mouse

Tada.

I think s/he's using Windows and wants Unix behavior. In which case the X-Mouse tweak will probably work. But to be honest, I'm a bit confused myself now ...

Yup. The man's right. The powertoy mentioned will emulate "mouse focus" a la XWindows.

I believe we have a Dual Boot Linux area for questions like these anyhow.
