All owners of Mx438G take a look at here!! - Page 10

well FSC have known about this lag issue for over a month and a half now.

and is there any progress? it's really starting to grate on me now, not being able to watch films, tv, or even listen to music.

Bokar, have you heard anything new from your contact within FSC support?

I can't afford to send my laptop away, if they are just going to bugger about with it and send it back with no change (and scratches all over it).

Has anyone actually tired the 'AlienWare Area-51 m5700' bios drivers on their 3438G machine yet? Did it make any difference?

This machine is stressing me out...

I've never experienced anything like this on my previous 6 or 7 PC's I've ever owned.

I'm using XP Pro, 2x80Gb Fujitsu drives in a striped Raid 0, 2.13 Ghz CPU.
A question. Is this lag a different one to the "extended loading times" or "hang ups" that can be noticed when playing. If we get a patch that fixes the "bad performance" bug, do I still have this weird random lag that makes the sound go odd for <1sec when listening to music for example??? Are we discussing about two different bugs or is this just another way it shows itself?

When I said playing CD audio, this was not strickly true. The audio is from Windows Media player library (originally ripped from CD).
So, in fact the audio data is being read from the hard drive -- so it's likely related to the lagging issue.

well spoke to FSC first line support in the UK, and the two different people I spoke to today both said that they 'had not personally come across such a problem with the 3438G'. crazy stuff.

Bokar, They told me that they look weekly at their official forums regarding problems. do you think that these discussions would be better served on the official site, (in english)?

I've been asked to email uksupport@fujitsu-siemens.com (second line support) and breifly explain the problem. Basically send them the info that Bokar has been getting people to send in.

So am I the only person in the UK with this issue???? doubt it.

EVERYONE AND ANYONE WHO HAS GOT THIS 'LAGG' ISSUE ON THEIR 3438G, CAN YOU PLEASE EMAIL FUJITSU SIEMENS AT THE ABOVE EMAIL ADDRESS AS WELL AS: technical.support@fujitsu-siemens.com

As a reminder, Bokar has made a really good template for this at:

I am so glad I didn't buy the 3438 and found out of the bug on this forum. Thanks Borkar.

I feel with you all and wish you good luck in solving this bug.
Hopefully I won't be so unlucky with my newly ordered i9400 Dell. Just payed for it.

I am the owner of an Amilo m3438, with an 80gb Seagate drive, since November 2005.

Haven't really noticed the issue, I must say. I'm not a gamer at all, doing mainly word processing, web-aps, DVD as well as downloaded video playback. The only possible complaint I have about the 3438, an otherwise fabulous machine that I'm most happy with, is that during video playback (from the harddrive), the sound (but NOT the image) will hang for a microsecond, though only occasionally. Again, the image remains smooth at all times, and there are no freezes or crashes at all: stable like a brick. Not even once have I been forced to press Ctrl-alt-Delete on this machine for a reboot. And this despite leaving it turned on for 24 hours a day, almost every day.

This particular lag only turns up every 20-30 minutes during video playback, and it's so short as to be insignificant. And strangely, it never shows up while playing mp3s or other audio files, which is why my first reaction was that it had to do with the powerful audio codecs that some of my video is compressed with. Still, can't help but wonder whether it also concerns this infamous lagging issue which this thread has been devoted to.

Now, I did purchase the laptop from a Dutch website with 3-year extended support in the Netherlands...so I'm a little worried about sending it in for future repairs (as Raven did), for fear of getting it back - ah - bent and scratched. *Yikes* Quirky and original designs aside, I have no burning desire for my notebook to become round and comfortable to sit on...

That's what I'm wondering about, too.

If it is indeed a progressive problem (meaning, every notebook starts suffering from it sooner or later), then logically, the older Amilos should at present be suffering from it more than the newer ones, at least a greater percentage of them.

Question is: are there many original owners - people who bought it almost when it came out - who still don't see the lagging? If there are then the issue may be more selective than progressive after all. Some notebooks are hit, some aren't.

I have bought my M3438 a month ago, and I have to say mine is working perfectly.
I play DOOM3, Q3, Call of Duty 2 and no lagging problem at all.

My question is: I’m lucky and I have a healthy M3438 or the problem will come to me sooner or latter

I have installed sata driver integrated wixp prof SP2 and the latest drivers and bios.

M3438 config :
2*512 ddr2
1733 dothan
segata 80 gb

If I can help with sharing my more detailed config, just tell me what to check!

sound problem (annoying noise)

Hello everyone,

has anyone else heard of, or has a solution(!) to the issue described by Keiran and moosephone earlier (posts #149,158,159)? I have the same problem and it is driving me crazy!!
I even returned the lappy to FS here in Hungary, and they changed the entire processor - needless to say, it didn't help!
(By the way, FYI, it had - unsurprisingly - also no effect on the lagging issue!)

Please help, cos I'm desperately dissappointed...

Hi vggeri
I am not quite sure about it right now, but I think the bug occurs only when you have the battery connected to your laptop. So try to use your notebook without battery but AC adapter.

That explain (maybe) why I don't remark this "lag" (and maybe other people the same) ... because I unplug the battery from the first day and I never use my lap with battery inside ... hmmm ... strange situation
