the rumor was definitely wrong (did I not say it anywhere?). I asked my contact after I heard this and he said: What? We are still testing....
still testing... doh

could you ask your contact if they have a beta, that the public could test?
unfortunately, there is nothing they could release.

02-23-06 - Added video that shows lags during mp3 playback in InstantOn

The background noises are annoying, but you can clearly see the hang-ups in playback with simple InstantOn usage.

Borkar i have a question for you and to all people of 3438G forum. How many time do you spend recording a complete DVD at 8x? cause´ my NEC 6650a needs about 14 minutes to do it. From 0% to 15% it takes about 5 minutes, afterwards it increases speed up to 100%. I have been looking in recorders forum and people say that it´s, generally, usual in notebooks recorders.

Thanks

I think it is normal (not quite sure). Dont worry about it.

Maybe there is a fix for all M1437 Users!
If you are interested in, contact me via PM.

Well, that's it then. It's bad enough that there is no fix (although I'm not seeing the lagging myself) but what's worse is that we still don't have any certainty as to what the cause is (not precisely), whether some notebooks are affected and some aren't, or why some (like mine) seem to be unaffected.

It's the uncertainty that annoys me, of not knowing the real extent of the problem. Even if FSC are not going to do anything to correct it, they could at least have given us more information, such as detailed results of the testing they did.

Hi All,

I just submitted a news item of the lagging issue at the Dutch Website Tweakers.net. It's on the Frontpage of the site.

With kind regards from the Netherlands,

yeah thx, read it
anyways, did another more serious testing on my lappy. played 2 DIVX'es at the same time. i did notice a stutre this time however it was only 0.5 seconds in both divx's at the same time in 2 loops. both files where the same movie and i ran them twice (boring to se a movie twice after eachother) also tested TMN, stutter happend once in about 2 hours of playtime while msn, mirc and firefow where open. question i do have for you all is: how much do you have it while playing a divx or a game. cause frankly if it would stay like this and wouldnt happen more often in the future i don't care. i cant find any laptop near this price that lets me play games on it.

Then you don't have the lagging. One single stutter in two hours of playtime is so minor that you will probably see it on many other lower-brand laptops.

I get a micro-second sound stutter once in a while too - same rate as yourself - it's just not enough to bother me. Now, the real question is whether our lappies will stay like this or get worse.

You may find this strange, but the issue regarding lagging has suddenly taken a new direction. As soon as I learned about the lagging issue I send a formal complaint to Fujitsu Siemens Norway. I then got an answer saying that FS was currently working on a solution. The other day I logged on and found FS official posting saying that the lagging issue couldn’t be resolved and that it wasn’t FS responsibility. Furious about the stupidity in that post, I followed up my complaint and contacted FS Norway again. I once again was told that FS was working on a solution. As it turned out, I knew the person I was talking with from my school days. I told her about the posting from the FSCModTeam. She checked once again and told me that there was no report made in the base regarding that post. All she could find was a log about what kind of test they had done and the progress they had made. She also confirmed that the problem was rooted in the Raid Controllers communication with the hard drives.

The person I talked to works in the first line. But neither she, nor anyone in second line has heard about that post. Nor does it exists in any data base regarding this problem!

She has promised to keep an eye to whatever happens and she will give me an update on Monday next week. I’ll keep you posted.

forget it.... FSC has a bad information stream!
FSC Germany gave up, and other countries dont know yet, but it is the hard truth. No fix ever!!
FSC presents the new models this month. They are trying to bring this lagging issue topic to an end and restart the selling with the new models.
The M3438G is not supported any more.

sorry to hear that guys.
And I'm glad I didn't go for this lappy and bought myself the new 9400 Dell.

Thanks for the advise.
