sorry Blip. I was too fast when I said there are good news. The only good thing is that they make still an effort to eliminate that bug.

Yeah, im not surprised that the update was delayed. If there ever will be one that is. Nothing against you or anything but theres no info or acknowledgement on FSC website so i doubt they will admit there even is a problem. Now im thinking about returning this piece. This is not what i ordered.

ok, sorry that I can give just a short overview.
The FSC Support has 4 layers. When you talk to the FSC Support, you talk with supporter of level 1. That is all you can achieve when you contact FSC. When a supporter level 1 tells you that he will forward an issue to the technicians, he means the supporter of level 2. When they can verify a problem but cant do anything about that, they forward the problem to the supporter of level 3. Here are software engineers and developer. If they cant do anything because the problem is not in their responsibility, they forward the problem as well. For InstantOn they contact Cyberlink. For problems with hard drives they contact Samsung, Fujitsu or Seagate. For problems with the mainboard they contact Uniwill.
so, the lagging issue is in the responsibility of Uniwill since it is a malfunction of the mainboard (in this case RAID-Controller, Intel Chipset, nVidia Card are components of the mainboard). Here the same thing starts.... If Uniwill can verify a problem with e.g. the RAID Controller but they cant do anything, they contact VIA. They contact Intel for the Chipset and they contact nVidia if there is a problem with the graphics card.

So, actually FSC can do nothing (!) about the lagging issue. They can only wait for Uniwill to fix it.

Don't want to dissapoint anyone of you guys, but I'm almost pretty sure I will not buy this system. I think I maybe go for the Dell 9x00, but it's costing more than this nice amilio system.

It's a real shame.

I have been reading the amilo.de and some other forum about this problem, but so far this one is the best of all. Of course because its in english Great job Borkar.

I have returned my amilo to FSC NL more than a week ago and asked them to look and fix the problem. Still waiting for their reply... i think i am going to give them a call soon now that i read your latest news update.
Also.. with all due respect Borkar, but i don't think 'we' will have a problem.. it will be FSC who will get a shitload of laptops returned. Either way, its for sure the laptop won't get back into my house until the problem is fixed.. i need to use it properly for applications i use (eg dv capture) and i can't do that now due to this bug. Either they give me a fixed laptop or some different model with the same specs. Lets see what happens.

Oh i don't want to rant you, just kinda disappointed with fsc. Please continue this great thread. Been reading with great interest.

I was getting paranoid from all your posts but glad I don't have the issues you describe. I don't see the lag you see Borker (compared to your video capture WC3). I can post a video of me gaming if you want if you can provide some web space.

Also downloaded wavelab and tried to find the lag by playing a wave file and letting the screen scroll...didn't find it.

Perhaps because I'm not using Samsung drives...have you tried using a Toshiba/Hitachi?! Some here don't have the problems you see so perhaps it has to do with the HDD. Don't know how long Samsung has been in the HDD biz, but Hitachi has been there for a while.

as I wrote in the "news thread", the bug is different strong on different systems. It seems that it occurs most on systems with Samsung hds, less on systems with fujitsu hds and only a little on systems with seagate HDs. I only know about one guy who has Hitachi HDs and he says that he dont have any problems.

fyi: My laptop got 2 fujitsu hds and i noticed the lagging problems in full effect.
unlucky me i guess.
so give it back or wait what Uniwill will do about this bug.
I think i will try to do so. Or just wait until i change job and then ill get rid of this computer anyway. But the best thing for all of us would be if they delivered the fix. This is the only setback i have with this computer and its unfortunately pretty big since i enjoy fps games now and then.

The other part that worries me are that not everyone notice the bug. If everyone did there would probably not be an issue for fsc/omniwill to come up with a solution for the problem.

[EDIT]

FSC is working on the problem. More information as soon as possible.

So you could actually buy this laptop, get new HD's (like Hitachi) and dont have problems with this bug?

Im like in love with this comp, I was so close to buy it when I red about this problem..

Hope it will be fixed. I want this laptop!
dont buy it. Wait until the end of January. Maybe then I will be able to give you some more information about the bug and whether it will be fixed.
If the bug is caused by the hardware will I be able to return the laptop?
Lots of thanks for your explanation Borkar. I might add that the dissapointment I expressed earlier got nothing to do with you. You are doing a great job putting down a lot of effort in these matters.

Exactly this was what I was thinking. But its not worth the hassle if it turns out it still got the same problem.
