Hard evidence found! Dell gives wrong info for Inspirion 6000 buyers! - Page 2

Funny how some of their online order configuration pages list the WXGA as Ultrasharp while others don't.

laffingbilly,

Are you saying the OP has a Wxga+ ?

^^dlinkin, i'm saying that the information provided by donnyyeo and now you is inaccurate. he/she and you have posted information for an LTN154X2 NOT an LTN154X2-L02. The whole basis for donnyyeo's argument is based on the assumption that the LTN154X2 has the same specs (in this case, viewing angles in order to be ultrasharp) as the LTN154X2-L02. Sometimes the dash whatever in the model number denotes significant differences in similarily listed model numbers. From what I've researched, the LTN154X2-L02 is a WXGA+, in which case the viewing angles are 50/50/65/65 (i.e. ultrasharp). now my research could be wrong about the -L02 model being WXGA+, and if so, that is fine.

if you look at the sites, they do not show if it is a wxga, wxga+ or even a xga for that matter. as far as screentekinc, their information isn't necessarily clear. even for wxga+ screens they do not have data for them. i've plugged in a few from samsung and others to see if that site could distinguish between -L# from base ones.

again, get an answer from samsung on the difference or the sameness of the LTN154X2 and LTN154X2-L02, then i'll be persuaded that there are typos.

If you can show me where any samsung lcd screen shows a /B after a space as part of a model number, then i'll believe that it is part of the model number. however, if you look at any samsung lcd model number there is a dash connecting the model numbers and letters. again, i'm sure the /B is an erroneous thing in the title as so often happens in ebay auction titles.

bottom line is, until you or anyone else can get the exact specs for the LTN154X2-L02 and NOT LTN154X2, then this argument is useless.

The LVDS in the picture you posted is for LVDS 1, not 2.

Better adjust your sig to show the conclusion to the thread.

I have both, WXGA and WSXGA i6K

You can clearly see when the two is put together that the colors look way better on the WSXGA.

Now has this changed with the new 14" Widescreen's? I don't know.

The Samsung guys replied my email. Below is the full content of their reply.

Quote:
There are 3 products of 154X2.

L02 is for Dell only.

We never produce L01 and L03 model.

The meaning of L02 is not 2 Ch LVDS.

15.4" XGA model used 1 ch LVDS.

The view angle of L02 is 25/45/45/45.

You think that LTN154X2 is equal to X2-L02
Conclusion, LTN154X2-L02 is for Dell and it has the viewing angle (U/D/L/R) of 25/45/45/45.

Note: It is a bit weird that Samsung mentioned that L02 is not 2 Ch LVDS. (Different from their own Product Code Key naming convention)

Case closed.

PS: You all can email Samsung at the same page...click on Email To Us for a pop-up window to type your email.

bottom line.... Ultrasharp vs non-ultrasharp is about the vivid, vibrant colors on the display. Viewing angles aren't that big of a deal, Samsung might have upgraded their WXGA viewing angle to that of Ultrasharps, but their color details prob weren't.

And that's the big bang for having an ultrasharp..... colors.

Compare an ultrasharp and non-ultra next to next and just look at the colors.

You have both WXGA and WSXGA+ on your i6000 ?
You meant that you have two i6000 with both resolutions at the moment ?
May I know what is the windows registery entry of the WXGA.

Here is mine:
Windows Registry LCD Entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY\SEC3258
SEC3258 is a Samsung LCD panel

Thanks.

O/T: Your pics of the i700m vs i6000 vs i9300 are fantastic. I can even see the bookshelf's reflection on the i700m.

ok i c now, did you find anything out about the 9300 series? I'd be ticked off if that was mine. hmmmm, maybe i should check.
