6800 Go to Quadro FX1400 mod

Sorry guys, It looks like this just isn't working for any of us

First, download and install the latest version of RivaTuner (I used v2 RC 15.8).
http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/

-Open up Rivatuner and you see this:

-Click on where I have circled and select the first icon (Low level system settings).

-At first this whole page is going to be greyed out. You have to click Install NVStrap. Once this is done, under PCI DeviceID settings, click on the "Graphics adapter identification dropbox" and select Custom.

-Click the up arrow or down arrow a few times until you see Nvidia Quadro FX 1400.
-I checked "Allow enabling hardware masked units" for the hell of it. There's really no point in this cause there aren't any hardware masked units to unmask. You're stuck with 12pipes.

-Check "Unlock professional capabilities"

-Hit Apply, OK

-Hit OK again at the main screen.

Uninstall your current drivers by going through Control Panel and using Driver Cleaner Pro.
http://www.drivercleaner.net/

-Download the regular (non-mobility) drivers. (I'm using the Xtreme-G 81.95's).

Wonder if the 7800 can be soft modded to the FX 3400 or whatever it is.

I believe it can, Blahman. But it really isn't supposed to give you better gaming performance (can only give you less). You're going to get a difference only if you do a lot of 3D Modelling or CAD.
have you tried performance tests on other games? Even if its not supposed to give a boost in performance and it doesnt hurt the card i would be all for it. Even if it gives about equal performance in other games, if it gives a boost in 3d modeling it be worth it to me.

I 3DMarked and I got about the same as before.

EDIT: Except I got some sort of DirectX error at the very beginning. I didn't really read it, I pressed OK and it went on.

can I do the same ?

Hi,
I have a "old" Dell iXPS with a ATI Mobility 9600/9700.
I would like to use Alias Studio but the video card must be:
Precision M60+, Nvidia Quadro FXGo1000
Precision M70, Nvidia Quadro FXGo1400
Latitude M20, ATI Mobility FireGL V3100

Can I soft mod my card ?
Can I buy a new video card on dell website and upgrade it myself without affecting my warranty ?
Thank you very much,
Jp

No, it isn't unless

I bought dell 9300 with gf 6800, my intention is softmod 6800 -> quadro. I have tried rivaturner, but winxp always recognize 6800go I should have bought Turion instead

Could you show me step by step what you did ? Riva version ? Settings ? Forceware version ?

Lurking around guru3d/Rivaturner section, they said that our gf 6800go is NV42 core, it means cannot be softmodded. If you somehow make winxp recognize quadro, the professional capabilities still locked

Could you run SPECviewperf v8.1 on your softmodded ? Here is my SPEC on 6800go:

3dsmax-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 18.89
catia-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 12.45
ensight-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 10.98
light-07 Weighted Geometric Mean = 12.60
maya-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 22.59
proe-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 16.25
sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 13.21
ugs-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 4.654

My research yield some results:
6800 core NV40, NV45: softmod ok
Core NV41, NV42: can't
Core NV43 > revision A3: can't. If core <= A3: ok
7800 core G70: can't

thecrazyblueman, you should direct this question to the Dell Pentium4 section of the forums. They are better suited to help you.

I have an NV42 core.
anybody tried softmodding a 7800 to a quadro?
Doubt it... or else there would be another sticky about something like that, because I'm sure people would be screaming for a How To... anything in the name of perceived performance.

I think I've read somewhere that you can.
I doubt it too. As JaxChris say on a previous reply, there should be a lot of more people interested on this mod type, and on all other forums all people say that is not possible on our cards, so ......... i doubt ...

Else, tell us how to do it

If you put up a how to Id be happy to do the mod
