Okay, I put up a quick guide on doing this on the first page/post. Take a look and let me know if it works out for you. Also, those of you who actually use CAD/3D design programs, let me know if this improves performance for you. Thanks!

I have a Quadro FX Go1400 based on an NV42 core. Maybe you can just flash your card to get it work. Let me know if you want a copy of the BIOS

You might be able to do that, but it's a much bigger hassle and much more dangerous. I don't think I'd want to risk ending up with a dead video card after a bad flash (my warranty ran out and no..i'm not looking for an excuse to upgrade to the 7800). The softmod is harmless and is completely reversible and gets the same job done. But thank you for the offer.

So I'm assuming this softmod is temporary with Windows? I mean as long as you get out of it or reformat your windows, it's gone right?

Thanks.
Is this more powerful then the 6800 go card or almost the same. Also, is the mod better then a 6800 ultra card or no.

thanks

I'm going to make an edit to the original post about this. This mod does not help fps in games. If anything, it can only hurt it. However, it does help with 3D / CAD design applications such as 3DStudioMax, Maya, etc...

It's a softmod. So yes, if you reformat, you will end up with your original Geforce 6800 Go.

If the blued 0 become 1, congratulation.

Read this guys , especially the post of Unwinder (author of Rivatuner)

One note: if you uninstal your drivers first you cannot select a device in rivia so that has t ocome after youve changed your deviceid.

Ive got this mod working. Ill test later with Avid (video editor) to confirm results.

Thanks Prona

Hi all

First, thanks to prona for the step by step guide

Yes, with this steps all aplications see our 6800go as a real Quadro FX 1400, as well as the drivers setup ... all the same as prona.

I've tested the SPECViewperf 8.1 with some drivers, as the original NVIDIA 81.87 for Geforce, the NVIDIA 81.67 for Quadro and the XTreme-G 81.95.v2 ... all overclocked at 360/740, and the best was with XTreme:

Run All Summary

---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
3dsmax-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 21.24

---------- SUM_RESULTS\CATIA\SUMMARY.TXT
catia-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 12.91

---------- SUM_RESULTS\ENSIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
ensight-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 12.83

---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
light-07 Weighted Geometric Mean = 12.23

---------- SUM_RESULTS\MAYA\SUMMARY.TXT
maya-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 26.39

---------- SUM_RESULTS\PROE\SUMMARY.TXT
proe-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 17.44

---------- SUM_RESULTS\SW\SUMMARY.TXT
sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 14.98

---------- SUM_RESULTS\UGS\SUMMARY.TXT
ugs-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 4.905

unfortunately this results are very closer to the original 6800go ... but maybe with some other drivers can make the difference ...

I work with Maya, so Maya optimization on NVIDIA Quadro Panel for me ... i need to test all this a little more with Maya for to see if some professional tweaks really work for now ... i pray for it

I think that is a good thing that now all drivers and aplications can see our card as a real Quadro 1400, and that maybe only little ****ing thing don't let us to have all the awesome power of the FX 1400, for design aplications, of course

Another thing, my card have the NV41 A3 Core ... someone with another Core can make some other tests

Ok, thanks again to prona

Peace and beers for all

This is sort of confusing I guess. All of the articles online are referring to the desktop variants of the 6800 (softmod to quadro 4000). Apparently they need the same core as the Quadro FX4000 (NV40) to have the mod work. So If I were to make a guess, we have to have the same core as the Go FX1400 (NV42) to have this mod work. I'll post results of my specviewperf in a couple of minutes here (waiting for it to finish downloading).

Sorry guys, looks like this doesn't work.

prona, look, maybe it can work. Now i've seen that we have put not the FX 1400 Go (00cc) ... we have the FX 1400 (00ce), not Go ...

It's time to try again

Yeah I see that. Hmm. Is there an updated NVStrap that will allow the option of the FX 1400 Go?
I've do it again, but this time as a 00cc Device, Fx Go 1400, with the 81.87 mobile drivers, and the SPEC is the same as 00ce Device

Can I say "****ing shit" on this forum? ... hehehe

smile ...

Alright, who wants to step up to the plate and put their nice tender video cards to the chopping block and test out mikemex's m70 fx1400go bios? hmm? anyone?

someone very brave please
i'm also interested by softmod my 7800 gtx in quadro 3400... but found nothing.
i'm very intereseting by that because working under maya and studio tools.
looks great if someone got some info about that.
thanks
What can i see is that Maya find the 6800 as a real Quadro FX Go1400 when do some hardware renderer or activate the High Quality Rendering , and looking at the Output Window i can see like it activate some kind of specific API and profiles for the Quadro system ... so maybe the softmod works ...

All software say that now i have a real Quadro, and the drivers i've tested find the 1400 for their own ...

I don't really now what to say ...

Hope someone can give us more ideas

Merry Christmas!!!

Hey guys. I'm going to try flashing my 6800Go to an FX 1400 in an effort to get it to work in a D810. Hoping I dont kill the card, but I think it should work . If the hardware BIOS flash works, might be a good way to get the mod to work .
