If I could what would be the optimal performance level where I could sqeeuze some juice out of my comp. btw its a 2.8, 2x256 pc-3200 ram, 40gb hd, with ati 9600 thx guys ill be lookin for a response if neone knows.
wait craig usually knows. YO CRAIG.....WHERE YOU AT?? lol
I'm assuming you have the ATi Video card with this reply as it seems to be a bit more common in these forums.
All video cards and systems work differently so you have to tread lightly when trying to find out your limits. Try bumping the GPU up at 5mhz intervals and the RAM up at 2mhz intervals. Then run a benchmark or play a game. Look for artifacts within the image. If all looks good, bump up again and run benches/play games. And so on and so forth...
The general concensus is that you can run the ATi GPU up to around 405MHz and the RAM to around 250MHz before you see anything get funky. But as stated above, all of our machines will act differently so be sure to test yours on the way up to these #'s.
And also keep this in mind: Ask yourself if you really need to overlcock your video card. Are games slow? Are they not running so as that your game play experience is unacceptable? To overclock your video card just for benchmarks is not a good move. Benches test many different aspects of your machine and are in no way...I repeat...no way how your laptop will run todays games in real time.
I personally got crazy with Powerstrip just to test the limits of the 9600 when I first got my machine. The only time I have overclocked in the last month was when I tried the Far Cry demo. There really is no need to for games like Call of Duty, MOH, CS, UT2K, ect... At least on my machine, things just fly at default!
Let us know how it goes!
