Don't order your 9300 untill you read this

If you order your Inspiron 9300 with the 80gb or 60gb (5400rpm) option, you're getting a slow drive. They only have a 2mb cache in them. The only drive(5400rpm) option that has the 8mb cache is the 100gb or the higher price7200 rpm drives. This 100 gb drive is not available online. You have to order it over the phone with your system. So don't get suckered into it.

The 100 Gig used to be available online all the way through the end of November.. I had one ordered with it over the website but it delayed the order out until the 22nd of December.

I called and checked my order status and asked if any parts were delaying my order which they confirmed was the Hard Drive. I assume they took it off due to low stock and long wait.

Heres where it gets funny :P I asked them to downgrade me to the 80 Gig drive which they did.. strangely enough she refunded me $180 which is bizzare considering the upgrade from 60 Gig to 100 Gig was only $79 .... :P
Now for the even stranger part. They sent me a 80 Gig 7200 RPM drive which was $180!!!!! More than the 100 Gig! ... a $360 dollar disparity heh.

Also all my coupons remained intact even tho 1 of them stipulated the system had to be over $1999 which it no longer was

I still paid more than I had to since I got the 1 Gig from Dell, as well as the 6800, and the 9 Cell, which I later ordered a 7800, and 2 Gigs of replacement ram. I made some of it back by convincing my cousin to order a practically bone stock 9300 and sold him the extras.

Edit: Thanks Watchtower7 for the loving and caring spelling lesson .....

this is funny since my $400 i1200 came with a 5400rpm 8MB drive. I kept it the lowest option and was expecting a 4200 one.

Great post mazda, this should keep people placing orders aware. And honestly, if the kid hates his cousin, then it's his issue now isnt it .

Usually an article of writing that contains four separate ideas has a period or some form of punctuation in it somewhere. And "I" is always capitialized. Maybe you should exam your own grammatical skills and take your own advice instead of making these cheeky posts.

For at least the past week the 100gb 5400rpm 8Mb cache was only an online upgrade option for Home not EPP, checked an hour ago still not on EPP where the system discounts are deeper.
