Better Business Bureau rates Sager...

UNSATISFACTORY!!?? Maybe this has already been brought up. Being very close to ordering a new sager notebook, this makes me second geuss my choice.

Quote:
"Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau. An unsatisfactory record is given when a pattern in the company's customer complaints causes us concern, when the company does not respond to complaints, or when it will not substantiate its advertising claims.

In this case, our complaint history for this company shows that although the business has responded to some customer complaints brought to its attention by the Bureau, others remain unanswered."

You're correct when you say this has already been brought up. It has been discussed here.

I personally don't pay attention to that kind of "bureaus". You give them money, they give you a good rating. You don't give them. they get p*ss*d of and give you a bad rating.
As far as I know PCTORQUE is a fantastic company. They answered all my questions in very very short time (less then an hour) by email and even helped me to ship my Sager to China. My rate for PCTORQUE is "superb".
If you wanna buy a Sager, give PCTORQUE a try. I doubt it you will be dissapointed by their service. And if Laura is the one that processes your order you will be in heaven, trust me. By the way, she's already taken. She's Adam's wife, the lucky bastard .

Does anyone know what this BBB uses as a "matrix". For example, if three complaints were received and two were resolved, would this place a business "lower than Whale Manure" or just about as close. I, for one would like to see the number of complaints and then the number of complaints that were resolved. I have seen BBB reports in my area that rate a business as "Excellent"; however, they were really bad and just short of fraud -- but they did resolve complaints that were directed to the BBB. (House Siding was the business exampled).

its been known for a while of bbb's rating of sager.. I think its pure politics.. check out that compared to resellerratings.. and you will see a big difference...BBB used to be a good place to check but now they are becoming a bit political IMHO notice they dont have any of these complaints available or the nature of them...
From what I've read the BBB is very biased if your a member or not. The BBB rating gives you absolutely no information as to the number of reports or even the nature of them. It could anything of the following according to the BBB
Quote:
? advertising you think was misleading
? improper selling practices
? non-delivery of goods or services you paid for
? a guarantee or warranty that was not honored
? unsatisfactory service after your purchase
? credit or billing problems
? the company's failure to perform as it agreed to, either orally or in writing
Also, the complaints may have been resolved with the customer but follow-up was not done to close the open record in the BBB database. Not all of the above are directly related to Sager as Sager doesn't sell computers, the reseller does. And there have been a few bad resellers.

A 1/2 hour reading through these forums and I think you'll be convinced that PCTorque is VERY HIGHLY regarded reseller and has always done everything they can to resolve any problem, and they're proud of there excellent repuatation and stand 110% behind the products they sell.

I personally rely on services such as resellerratings, epinions, cnet shopper, great forums like this one. Here you can read what the consumer thought of the product and you can read in detail about what was good/bad. Then you can make an informed decision. A statement such:

Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau
isn't worth the magnetic media it's stored on. Personally, I need real data.

I *love* my Sager.

Please don't buy a SAGER, it will mean one less for the rest of us. Go get Dude!

one thing you have to remember that Sager is just a reseller. They sell Clevo laptops which are made over seas. They do some RMA work and such but they don't produce anything. (as far as I know) Sager might have not have the best rating. But your buying from PC torque and I believe all problems and such you can communicate with them not with Sager. As far as PC Torque is concerned I would have to rate them highly. So if your looking to buy, buy from pc torque not from sager directly if your worried.

I would hate to see what sort of *real* rating HP gets. If you have ever tried to deal with them they are a minefield.

From my own experience with PC Torque I would and have recommended them to anyone who asks .

If Sager gets that rating, Dell's must be like, Severe disatisfaction.

Concrete Proof of Bias

Take a look at the rating for Microsoft.

Based on BBB files, this company has a satisfactory record with the Bureau. The company responded to any complaints processed by the Bureau in its three-year reporting period addressing the disputed issues and exhibiting a good faith effort to resolve the complaints satisfactorily. However, the consumer was not always satisfied with the outcome
It appears only MSN portion is a member I can't seem to find a listing for the Windows division, strange as that may be.

Dell appears to have a satisfactory rating also but the Texas BBB doesn't explicity state that. It does have a long disclaimer explaining about having a technician come to your home to fix your computer.

I think that we must bear in mind that this BBB is located in the same areas as the 9th Courts. They have dubious records.

Enron has no complaints it must be a good company

Enron
1400 Smith St. P.O. Box 1188
Houston, TX 77002

General Information

Principal : Ms. Elyse Kalmans
Phone Number: (713) 853-6161
Fax Number: (713) 853-3129
Email Address: alee@enron.com
Type-of-Business Classification: Oil & Gas Exploration/Development
Website Address: www.enron.com

Customer Experience

The following data concerns complaints processed by the BBB since the firm's file was opened or over the last 36 months, whichever is less. Enron has had no complaints. The company's size, volume of business, and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number of complaints received by the BBB. The complaints filed against a company may not be as important as the type of complaints, and how the company handled them. The BBB generally does not pass judgment on the validity of complaints filed.

PC Torque != Sager. Sager's ResellerRating is 5.25 lifetime, and there's only been 12 reviews. PC Torque's is 9.97 lifetime... so a BBB rating of Unsatisfactory for Sager is in fact in agreement with the RR rating.
