see video here: http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...z70va+ghosting Also, I would be curious if you got an old stock that was lying around jp. Call your distributor and demand a new unit.

Here's a thought. List your Reseller, when you bought it, ect so maybe a solution can be found... instead of making a thread that does nothing.

Do I report this to Asus directly or the place I purchased it from?

Edit: I just tried it out with a black background and get NO ghosting whatsoever. Everything is sharp and perfect just like CRT. Guess it means I already have the new LCD on my Z70Va

Here we go again. As i said before. Some resellers claimed that asus resolved this issue and are now shipping problem free screens this ofcourse never happen but i am not going to be the party pooper so i ll stay quite when i feel the need. Though this is partially correct THE RESELLER IS STILL SUPOSED TO SCREEN FOR THIS. Please contact your reseller ragarding this issue. Posting on here only makes things worse for resellers that have been working with this issue and have been shipping good screens since the problem started. If your reseller does not help you then you can cry about it here.

Yeah...a post like this is useless unless you state the reseller.

IMHO, it pays to do your research and talk to your reseller. Sorry to hear that you received a defective screen, but as everyone else has stated, your post is meaningless without listing the reseller and what steps they took to resolve your issue.

Personally, I recently received my z70va from Geared2Play ... Eddie said he had good screens to fill orders with, and he was as good as his word. Thanks, Eddie!

Blame the genius that said "eh we are dumb americans, we wont call it ghosting instead we will think its normal or ignore it becuase we are lazy." They did not account for an army of nerds nor profile the target audience. Someone needs a new stratigical planner there. How can you put a bad screen on your best laptop.? Thats like putting hybrid engine into a 67 T-bird. If they had one that year. Thats WEAK!

Umm, people are still talking about this resolved issue?

If your reseller doesn't cover you it's their problem.

They're not STILL shipping NEW refresh units with ghosting problems. Those are just old batches, not the new fixed ones.

So don't jump the gun buddy, please.

As Eddie and many vendors have said the problem is resolved, it's just up to your reseller to live up to their name and fix the damn problem.

Hope this is the last of the Red Ghost discussion.

Cheers,
Mike

not true. Eddie stated a few posts up that this info was incorrect and the problem is still NOT solved.

Not solved never was. This week we sent back another 9 units for the same issue and 6 more on the way. Point being is we are not shipping faulty units to customers. If your reseller is take it up with them. Not your problem and not asus responsibility to you. Asus is responsible for supporting resellers not end users. Your reseller is posed to offer some kind of ghosting gurantee. Sure they can slip through the cracks. Also i found out that some screens with extremely mild ghosting can posibly develop more ghosting. But there are good screens out there and we are shipping them. Talk to your vendors before you buy to make sure they got their bases covered.

I was told from my Reseller that it was a screen problem. Everyone says Samsung made the screens but my reseller tells me that it indeed wasn't them and instead was a local Taiwan vendor.
They are probably still in the process of removing all the cruddy LCD screens from their stock.
Probably have to wait a month or so for the crap screens to dry up.

It is infact only common to samsung panels. No other manufacturer had this exact issue ever from the research i have done. I cant say that asus will be switching alliances as samsung is one of the biggest if not the biggest manufacturer of lcd panels.

yeah mine is just now exhibiting some ghosting, but isnt too bad yet. hopefully it doesnt worsen.

Hard to say. I used one of the ghosted screens to replace my buddies screen in his toshi. So far almost 2 months later after daily use nothing changed. Has a bit of ghosting on the bottom about 2% of the screen. We had one customer that had his screen replaced 3 times now. Never had any one else come back after the first replacement so i dunno. This is a very tricky issue but we are replacing the screens and i know asus is too if your dealer dont give a damn,.

I got a bad screen with ghosting, and yes, I wish istnc would have checked my nb thoroughly before it was shipped. I was advised that it has been hard to sort through the good for the bad but that I will be taken care of. Also advised that they won't have new screens for replacement until 12/30 at least, but it should be a quick turnaround when they do come in.

Has anybody else had to send back to istnc? How long did it take to get back to you?

it seems a bit weird to me how the screens develop the ghosting cuz i was pretty sure my screen didnt have it when i first got it...or maybe its been there the whole time and i havent noticed it.

Extremely possible however i am about 99% positive screens with 1% ghosting which is very hard to detect on inspection can develop more of it in a relatively short time. Like i said before this is not a big deal. We replaced all our badf screens and turn around was 24-48 hours. Not a big deal.

Yea, my screen was pretty much perfect when I first got it back.
After a week or two of use the ghosting set in once again.
Just keep getting it replaced until its gone
You paid for quality product and you should get it.
The # of defective screens in stock should have dwindled by now, I'm sure it will be pretty much near gone by end of January.
