Buzzing/Vibration on my 700m

This just started happening out of the blue, my 700m is making a somewhat loud and really obnoxious noise.

Its coming from the right side of the keyboard chassis area when the screen is open and if i smack the right side on the side right above the dvd drive it stops

but then it starts again like 3 mins later.

anyone have any suggestions?

Is your AC adapter plugged in? Mine has buzzing noise when my AC is plugged in. But only heard in a really quiet room.

it happens regardless of whether the ac adapter is plugged in

new development though. i leaned the whole laptop back while open and the noise was going WaWaWaWaaaWa or whatever, changing as i did it. and i got to a certain angle and it stopped. hopefully itll stay stopped

sounds like the fan is rubbing.

have dell fix it. not much else it could be, maybe the HD, but prob the fan.

if you have i9kfangui, try shutting the fan off for a sec. that will tell you for sure if it is fan.

is the fan on the left side or the right isde. i thought the only fan was on the left and this noise is from the right

Call Tech support and let them dispatch a techician.Don't go fooling around with it, especially not hitting it.

Does it do it if you don't have a CD in the drive? Does it sound like the drive spinning?

Sounds similar to what I am experincing on my 700m. I get a very loud drive noise when I have a particular CD in it. Strangely enough, it only happens with that CD as far as I can tell for the short time I have had my 700m. The drive will start running and make the loud noise regardless of weather or not I am using the program on that CD. With other CD's, I don't have this problem.

its not from the cd drive.

tech support told me to take the hard driev out and boot up withought it in but i dont have a screwdriver small enough to take it out. Im like 100% sure its the drive cause it had a distint noise when it spun down after shutting down.

im gonna see what they can do to help me replace the drive

they all have a distinct noise. like.....errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...(:

good luck

If it is the hard drive it probably means the HDD is dying. First thing you should do RIGHT NOW is burn all of your important data off that HDD onto a CD/DVD, or copy it to another computer over a network.

maybe something's loose, possibly the hard drive, Is it an electrical buzzing noise, or is it more like a rattling noise. I would ask if it's a hard drive buzzing noise but I don't even know how it sounds, I just know if something's clicking, it's mostlikely the HD, but rarely do I hear it buzzing from the HD unless it's realllllllly quiet, like in the library quiet.

i doubt it's the fan, or cd rom 'coz those are really obvious sound, only a stupid person can't tell it's those components.
