The top two resellers i can think of and mention without violating the rules are...

www.pctorque.com - They run these forums and they're who i (and most people here) bought from. Also they seem to be very good with international orders.

www.powernotebooks.com - prices almost as good as pctorque and also has very good customer service.

www.Sagernotebooks.com - Go here to buy direct from sager, prices aren't all the good and from what i've read customer service isn't bad, but not anywhere near the other two.

Feel free to check out www.resellerratings.com and search for these resellers to see what many others think. Notice that both PcTorque and Powernotebooks are in the top 15 internet based store listed on the main page, quite impressive indeed.

I would like to use pctorque... but if I order from there and send it to here (Costa Rica) just for bring the laptop they(in Costa Rica) charge me like $150 plus tax = $350 = $500, so.. I don't really want to sped $500 on just tax and shipping .... that's way I need to know the phone number or something like that of the costa rican reseller... thanks anyway....

damn thats alot of tax.. Might just be cheaper to buy a plane ticket to Florida and pick it up there.

I just checked sagers rating and wooo they are like at 1.x something. I guess I'll never buy from sager directly.

I've not heard of a Costa Rican dealer for Sagers, unfortunately - but that doesn't mean one does not exist. I am surprised Sager did not reply via e-mail, try them again - and ask them to reply even if there IS NOT one in C.R. just so you'll know for certain...

does someone here know if pctorque can send a "custom" invoice, I ask this 'cause if i order a $2600+ laptop but in the invoice it say it's a $850 laptop I won't pay all the excesive taxes, is just that the company that bring my stuff from USA charge me ALOT!, yep.. they are the ones the "calculate" the taxes, the past month just for bring me a mp3 player that cost me $100 they charge +$110 just in "taxes/services" that doesn't exist....

And.... I suppose that if the system that arrives was DOA or something like that and you wanted a refund you would settle for the $850 Invoice Price . I think that you ask too much - not a slam, just reality ! If you paid $2,600+, then that is what the invoice should state or I would guess that ANY retailer would be in trouble .. Fraud comes to mind and also Tax Evasion..

sorry.. I didn't think on that...
maybe if pctorque just don't send an invoice with the laptop and send it later or something like that... oorrrrrrr if pctorque may ship the laptop to a hotel room... this is because my dad may go to California in a couple of months.... so he can bring it...
If you have a 100% plus tax that you indicate, I'd have dear old Daddie stop at Sager, in California, and pick up the unit that you desire. I suspect that the taxes will still apply. Shipping to a Hotel Room would be much the same as shipping to a know mail drop "addressee is fraud" and a sure loser for anyone doing that.

Oh, by the way something that I forgot - Your Daddie would still have to pay the California Sales Tax if he picked it up @ Sager.

I truely feel for you; however, the problem is probably with Costa Rica and not any supplier or shipper.

Have a Merry Christmas -

do they have laptops ready to go?? or I better order online and tell my dad to do a store pickup??
that's a good solution G-Omaha... thanks...
I would call them (SAGER) so that they will have a system "ready to go" on the date/time that your Dad will be in the area. They may need a couple of weeks lead time to accomplish this. Also an email confirmation is a "MUST".

Cheers

Yeah, you can order from PC Torque (or whomever) and have them HOLD IT at Sager for Pick-Up - you still pay California sales tax (8.25%, I think is what City of Industry has...) but you AVOID shipping and handling charges, not to mention Costa Rican taxes.

Just make sure your dad has a spare arm/shoulder to haul this thing (in the box - no handles)... Don't think it'd make it as a carry-on in the original double-box.

you mean that I can buy from pctorque and send it to sager so they hold it so my dad go and do a store pick-up??
Actually, it would STAY at Sager for the pick-up, since that's where all of our machines originate anyway.

hummm... but with PcTorque price??
I believe that would be the case. Send Tom an e-mail and he can clarify it "for the record" for you.

YES. You order from PC Torque, mention you want it held for pickup (give them the days your dad can pick it up) and they'll tell Sager to hold on to it. The only time PC Torque ships a laptop is when someone from California orders, then Sager ships it to Florida (PC Torque) and they ship it back to California (to the customer) - just to avoid CA Sales Tax (of 8.25% or thereabouts).

However, some Californians have opted to pick it up directly, as the time and shipping savings help offset the taxation.
