Amilo V2045 and Linux don't mix

Hey

I bought this Fujitsu laptop, and have had nothing but trouble. First, my keyboard didn't function properly. Thanks to forums, I managed to get that fixed by flashing the bios. Soundmax's soundchip doesn't work, but that doesn't bother me that much.
But now, my hard disk's LED is illuminated all the time, like my hard disk was being constantly used. If anyone can come up with a solution to that, I'd appreciate it.
Finally, a word of advise for those thinking of buying a new laptop: if you use linux, never, ever, buy a Fujitsu laptop.

thats bad information. the Almio based on the Uniwill 258KA0 (fujitsu part # slips my mind at the time), is fantastic for LInux! I say that as a 258KA0 owner and full time linux user!

That said, not all distros do their stuff out of the box, but ubuntu (among others), gets everything except for the media card reader working right after the install...no extra config required!

My best advice is ... do some research before you post bad claims!

Also, have you ever considered maybe you have a bad laptop? I mean with the keyboard not working or anything.... or is it specific to linux? Have you tried windows?

I agree with abf, I have Fujitsu Amilo M3438G and i have installed both SUSE 9.3 and Fedora Core 4 on it. Only problem I have encountered is with the sound card but its a common prob that has been addressed in these forums and is not specific to Fujitsu, so its definately wrong to say linux and Fujitsu laptops are not compatible....
