Finicky touchpad buttons

I purchased a TravelMate 8103 back in August. Over the last month or so, my touchpad buttons have been behaving erratically. I have to hold down the left mouse button longer than usual for a click to register and I have to click the right mouse button several times before I see a response.

Has anyone else here ever experienced this? If so, what did you end up doing? (I imagine I'll have to send the whole thing in for repair.)

yeah, they're a bit flaky - sometimes when i single click i get a double click.
i just use a mouse most of the time
