I am enroute to get my card. If you have installed your card already, did you leave the Intel drivers on the machine, or remove through control panel? Also, are most of you using windows wireless, or the software that came with the card?

Removed the intel drivers through control panel and using the software that came with the card with no problems.

YOu think that makes it screwed up? If you never set up a password, it still doesn't require a password. Just hit enter.
Mine did the same thing.. can't give an explanation, but it isn;t a big deal.

I had to enter safe mode to enter the password but all is good now

I turned off the PW requirement in the power settings.

Okay got the card installed. I immediately noticed a diference in speed of the internet and my network. While I did not pickup any extra networks from my desk, once I went to the very same location that I was working withthe 2915, I picked up 5 different networks. I had never seen them with the intel,
most were 2wirexxx, and the others were linksys.
I am satisfied

what are the 2Wire networks from? I pick them up all over the place...
Just curious.

This is some information that I found on 2wire:

I guess that it probably is the cable modems that are installed.....I just drove around with the new card and 2wire is all over the place.

Are people not getting the correct card which should be the 5006XS? Mine is on its way, but I have seen a few posts of people receiving the 5006X. I think geist posted that he had the 5006X also and then later edited his message.

Did you email the guy and ask about this? What was his response?

Mine was shipped on the Dec 24. It arrived yesterday Dec 29. Well at least, they tried to deliver it. I left reciept telling them to leave it in my door.

I received the AR5006X model. I read somewhere that the xs supports up to 108mbs. That probably is the difference. Even though the add states xs, I'm not going to complain.

Mine shipped out on the 21st, and I haven't received it yet but I live in Oklahoma (Landlocked), I hope I get the sx version cause I replaced all my other equipment to support 108mbs.

Yep, that wi the difference, the transfer rates read:

http://www.atheros.com/pt/AR5006Bulletins.htm

If you have an 108mb network it probably will be big difference in the transfer speed from the "x" to "xs" model..

I uninstalled then reinstalled the driver pointing to the ndis5x file on the cd and it installed as the AR5006XS??I have this connected to a dlink 524 with 624 firmware router which supports 108Mbps.The atheros client will say connected at 54Mbps while windows says(under network connections) connected at 108Mbps.
