Its and extention from the WPA encryption, its a bit harder to crack, but has been cracked, just not as easly as wpa, or wep as teh easiest, i dont find a need for it, unless if i were in a big city, i only use wpa, plus you gatta update your firmware on your router if you bought it within the last 6 or 7 months, where as alot of router companys didnt incorpate into there firmware back then, hope that helps

P.S. thanks for the group buy thing, hopefully getiing mine mon, or tues latest hopefully, left hong knog last tues, anyways hope you got my email that i forworded to ya, thakns again

Hey Fire.. As prestonr stated WPA2 is a higher encryption level thats harder to crack. The windows wifi client only supports normal WPA even with SP2. However the link I gave above is a Microsoft update that adds support for WPA2 to the windows client. This just means you dont need to install any 3rd party software like the Atheros Utility.

Here is what the windows setup looks like with it configured

btw.. the cards are both running great in our 9300 and 700m laptops with the D-Link 108Mbps Wireless Gaming Router DGL-4300. The addition of the Atheros AR5006XS wifi cards has definately helped smooth and get rid of game pauses. They have also resolved the random connectivity issues where the connection would drop down to 1Mbps. Thanks for the Group Buy!

Mine was shipped on the 24th and I haven't received yet either. I'm in the U.S. too. Hopefully it will be there when I get home today. Based on all of the posters here that have already received theirs and the fact that the sender has responded to my email I am not too worried that it won't eventually get here. I'm just a little anxious.

Installation was a snap/pop/click and it's smooth sailing. My signal is excellent.

Is there anyway to let the BIOS be able to identify the card?

Only one suggestion use AES instead of TKIP better encryption.

You installed the wrong driver . Upgrade the driver to the one in the D:\Ndis5x directory on the included CD.

Thanks and sorry, I was browsing through the page and found out. I havent been following the thread so sorry

Sorry.. to be correct... the CD setup program installs the AR506X driver by default which is wrong and will only give you 54Mbps. Update the driver using the directory above which is for the AR5006XS and you'll be fine. Will increase your speed to 108Mbps also if your wireless router/AP supports it.

LOL.. no need to be sorry.. Actually to you for looking back through the thread!!! Most people cant be bothered.

Did you install the full client, or just the driver itself to get the 108

EDIT: is there any outer routers the run at the 108 limit, and can be reloaded with other types of firmware other then the one from the company them selves, or running the linux os?
