What version comes with it? I found two driver sets floating around that may or may not be newer.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will the first one will work just as fine as the other two antennas

Well I guess you did dare

Read what I posted! I said it was shipping from China which it is. I didn't say which system anywhere.

Also I'm originally from Canada and ship all kinds of stuff back to my father. Canada Customs is likely one of the most horid organizations and its for this reason that items take so long to go from the US to Canada and then be delivered. The US Customs is much more efficient and therefor items coming in from oversees typically make it hear quicker.

If I do this it will take 3 weeks to get here? Is there any way to pay like 10$ shipping and get express shipping?

BSOD: IRQL_equal_or_less

Anyone else having BSOD problems since installing the Atheros card? I started to get them the day I installed the card in my 9300. I installed a 2nd in the wife's 700m and she hasn't had any problems at all. Swapping the cards out in case had a bad one and I still continue to get the BSOD while her 700m is working fine so I know it's not the card. Perhaps the drivers? Time for me to do a system restore from my fully setup Ghost Restore DVD anyways.

The BSOD error is: IRQL_equal_or_less

Anyone run into this before??

wtf i recieved the ar5006x model not the xs .

EDIT; this is the deal. The auto install installs the wrong drivers. It installs the ar5006x drivers you must install drivers manually. I checked the chip it is indeed the xs . Note; even with the x drivers it was faster then my Intel pro a,b,g 100kb faster at the same connection speeds 54 . Now i go off and test it with the xs drivers

Oh yea and the client software sucks. Use xp to manage wireless

weird, I have had that happen due to a USB GPS unit tho.

BSOD sucks!

Strange for me it's faster with the x drivers much faster and more stable. Web pages up faster, benchmarks faster and so on. So i reinstalled the x drivers and client software. i will probably uninstall the client software like last time . The xs drivers are slower for me and would drop to half speed and take long time to recover. The x drivers don’t do that. Good thing I don’t have 108 in the hotel just 54. One thing for sure the wifi light does not turn on and off. But streaming video is better and web pages faster. It does use a little more cpu power though then a Intel pro a,b,g

Title: Atheros Client Utility (802.11 a/b/g, b/g) for Windows XP
Version: 4.1.1.231i153
What about new drivers? The card has slow periods were it slows to half speed. And yes i have power saving off

Edit, ok so now it's even faster but i am using x drivers with the new client software. So what about new drivers for xs
post #292 of 442
wow it's fast with x drivers 54

Yes, me too...started happening out of the blue every so often after installing the card...can't pin it down to one action that causes it everytime, though usually it happens when I am transfering files across the network...perhaps it is a driver issue...I am going to try the 'x' drivers everyone is talking about and hope it goes away, though it will be quite hard to test since there is no way to reproduce it reliably (i.e. it just 'happens' every other day or something)...if one of us finds a solution, a separate thread is definitely warranted, here! Thanks for mentioning it.

Edit: now that I think about it, this is USUALLY a VIDEO DRIVER issue since it is a fault in nv4_disp.dll or something...if you do a search on any graphics card forum, you will find tons of posts under 'IRQ_not_equal_or_less' or whatever the error actually is...

Edit2: Ok, I removed everything (software and drivers) and JUST reinstalled the 'x' driver...basically, you just go into the folder that says 'Installation CD' and double-click setup, then select 'driver only'...this solved my Super-Slow Boot-Up (Tm) problem that I had been having since Day1 after installing all the XS crud, so I'm optimistic it solved the BSOD as well...will report back.

i got the xs drivers to work even better then the x drivers . Still having drop out , not drop outs but slow downs . it's incredibly fast some times and some times not . This wifi is fast but doesn’t seem to stable. Maybe it's the uncertified drivers? Does any one know of any new drivers?
Hmm I wonder if this happened to my Intel pro card darn don’t remember .

??

Is it still possible to buy with the group discount? I want a badass wireless card!! I connect at my school and I get a pretty good connection one second and a completely shite connection the next...It's like the signal just decays and I'm sitting in the exact same spot. Anyway I apologize if I missed it or am being dumb but where do I go to add my name to the list or purchase the card?

http://cgi.ebay.com/MiniPCI-802-11A-...QQcmdZViewItem

I also found this card for cheaper? Although his rating isn't as good.

The only way you might be able to get the great deal is... Remove your crappy sig do it doesnet take up 99% of the page..

Then wait for Fireberta to reply and tell you if u can still get in

God I've had my M170 for 2 days and I absolutely hate this wireless card! Constantly getting "limited or no connection activity" Its not my router as I had no probs with my previous notebook.

I want a wifi card I can play online with and dont worry about random disconnects every <15 min.

How difficult is it to change these cards, I have never opened a notebook! Scared I might ruin something.

Arrived today, installation was a snap. Actually, you don't need to even have it install the AR5006X Drivers. When it finds the hardware, choose the option to let it search for the right drivers in a specified location then browse the CD and chose the Ndis5x directory. It auto-detects, finds and installs the AR5006XS drivers.

Ok, to get rid of the Intel stuff:

Start->Control Panel->Adminstrative Tools->Services

Scroll down to Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless

Right click on each of the 4 items and choose Properties. Click STOP and then do the drop down to Disable and then Apply. Make sure you Disable all 4 Services.

Then, hold the Windows key down and press R. In the Run box, type msconfig

Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck:

ZCfgSvc
ifrmewrk

It will tell you that you need to reboot. When you do, it will say you have made some changes in the System Configuration Utility. Check the "Don't Show this messsage" box and click OK.

Then you are all set.
