Reading this most people will not be sure if its closed or not. I'd suggest BOLDING the first line (as above) saying that the GB is Over and then close the thread.

Thanks for setting it up for everyone!

I know, a little behind, but I have a question reguarding this.

I finally got my Atheros AR5006XS and I am having some problems. The cd comes with a setup program that installs the drivers and the client utility. It installs the drivers but I have to update the drivers from the one on the disk to make it be seen as an XS. I have a D-Link 4300 and I should be getting a 108M connection but it will not connect with this. Also, the client utility has made my computer boot in fast mode now and I can't turn it back to normal.

Any ideas from those that have the same setup?

Thanks

After one year, I am now conviced that the card we all received is not capable of Super G (unless static turbo is used). I have not tested Super A.

Whether WMIA-166 AG is AR5006XS and not AR5006X is no longer my focus.
There has to be a reason for Windows installing the X drivers and not the XS.
There isn't a single version of the Atheros drivers that properly recognizes the card.

Regardless of the X or XS, the client utility will still allow you to enable Super G.
All of us have enabled Super G but are getting simple G.
That means the card we have does not support Super G. http://www.super-g.com/faqs.html (read 4 and 5)

Regardless of my client/router configs, I get a constant 20-21 Mb/s.
I am using the latest drivers (5.0.0.107) with the DLink DI-624 (2.76) router.

Your router uses AirPlus Xtreme G technology ( http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=6 ), and the Atheros card uses their proprietary Super G technology. The two do not mix. This is why standards are so important. If you want to use the Super G in your laptop, then you need to get an Atheros Super G router ( http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=385 ).

Please tell I didn't spend countless hours trying to get two different technologies to work together.

Yes you did. Sorry.

The one question I have though is why did it work with "Super G with static turbo"?

Don't know. But if it works with that setting, then use it.

I ordered one AR5006EX from garagesale125 some weeks ago. He told me, the card should ship 1st week of november which was delayed a little bit. But he instantly informed me about the production delay of this card. Today I got my AR5006EX from garagesale125 (Shipping from Hong Kong to Germany ).

Great service! I can only recommend buying from him

The card really rocks. Caught up two new W-Lans of my neighbourhood ^^

That's funny. Because I bought my AR5006EGS from a German eBay reseller.

Well, then TRY to get an AR5006EX in germany
Impossible... this mini-PCIe Card is not sold anywhere in Germany ^^
Saw one card on eBay but way too expensive...

I didn't have any need for connectivity to 802.11a, so I went with this one.
