Guys i think i got screwed on Ebay. I just recieved the Latitude D800 that i ordered and there is a admin password on the Bios screen, the seller is not returning my emails all i have is my reciept from ebay. Can some one tell me if there is a way to get the password reset or do i need to use this notebook as a door stop.

I was under the impression that there is a battery that can be removed to reset the BIOS...

Wrong, the PW is store to protect the owner and removing the battery will now fix it.

this post was posted few days ago on Dell peer to peer

do a credit card chargeback... I'm sure he'll be returning those emails fast.

Smells like a stolen laptp from a company?

Sounds like a stolen laptop.

If you can prove ownership, Dell will probably give you the master password, but I'm guessing the seller probably has not transferred ownership to you.

Definetly smells like stolen company property. Few owners actually use the Bios Password protect and a company computer which it likely is since latitudes are only sold to small-large businesses will often use passwords to ensure protection of sensetive files for there employees who travel.

Yep def sounds fishy...

that being said my old dell 3800 (with onsite warranty) had a admin password set by my little nephew.... clever lil thing!

I called Dell the engineer came along, plug his lil devise into the MB and within 5 mins i had access again.

The notebook is most likely stolen so you should try to return it. Second thing is to go ahead and register at Dell as the new owner by using the express service code and service number on the bottom. Lastly, try this:
